Thomas Davis will return to the Panthers...

He has been at best inconistent overall.

In his first two started game he gave up four pressures and a hit, followed by 3 pressures, a hit , and a sack.

In the last two he given up only two pressures and a sack. So he has and is improving. And I wouldnt rule him out for a future gig.

But four games (two of which were pretty bad) is not enough to state this guy is our future, and shrug off a high rated OT (assuming Otah isnt the answer).

for starters, I'd like to see where you are getting your information from. I'm going to assume you looked at the player who was "lined up" against Bell in that particular game and apply all those statistics against Bell, in which case, I'll then continue to shoot holes through that method like a rifle through paper.

Secondly, if you're method does check out...2 pressures and a sack in two games is phenomenal. To act like that stat would do anything other than back up my point would be to err.

Your problem is you make up these stories in your replies. You sound crazy. I made no mention of my view point against yours. Then you go on about me not being able to back my view point, which doesn't even match your original point. It's just that time and time again I see you acting like a royal jackass to people. I don't get it. You're the one not being able to accept that people have view points separate from your own and that a lot of situations pertaining to a sports team are not as easy as black and white. Who the hell really knows what this team need the most? Is Peppers an elite DE? Etc etc... We are going to have different opinions and discussion of such things shouldn't be handle with being a pure jackass.

This is completely laughable. You are pulling things out of thin air. Perhaps you've confused me with someone else, but it sounds more like the fact that your viewpoint has disagreed with mine in the past has given you fits, and you are now venting about it. Perhaps I'm not the one who needs to let go of that fact that we have differing viewpoints, you keeping a track record of things I've posted certainly doesn't seem to bode well for what you are accusing me of doing, in fact, it just off as completely hypocritical.

The stats are per PFF.

Bell did play agianst the likes of Matthews in first game. And it was his first start, and it showed. Matthews has yet to eclipse the amount of pressures he got from Bell this season.

The next game he started agaisnt was Ray Edwards, a player who has been bad at pass rush this entire year. Edwards had by far his best (and arguably his only good) game this year agianst Bell.

He then played agianst fellow rookie Kerrigan whose been really hot and cold. And held him pretty well.

Aftterward it was him vs Robinson, who started out outstanding this year, but then followed it up with two bad games agianst the awful tackles of GB and Chi. Bell had his best game and gave up only one pressure.

If he continues to play like his past two games then you got a point.

But ultimatley it comes down you beliveing that you can rule out drafting a potential franchise tackle based on two games. And I don't see whats justifys that.

man I'd love for him to take a cut and come back. There is nothing I would love more than for him to play out another 10 years here.

But we're still going to make sure that we've got insurance in case he can't do it...

but honestly, I'd bring him back if he wanted to as long as roster space allowed and he heavily restructured that contract.

As Chris said, I'm sure he's aware of the restructuring that has to happen. I think he's been fantastic for us when healthy. Bring him back if he shows he can play and load the deal so he gets increases if he has good luck with the knee. Simple. No way testing the market is going to give him any luck until he starts playing again.

I hope for the best...great player with great heart...I was crushed when he went down this year.

some info on achilles tears

Although the incidence of Achilles rupture is low, 0.93% per NFL game, nearly 36% of affected players never return to playing at the NFL level.

Furthermore, in the reviewed 21 NFL skill players who returned to play, there were significant decreases in games played per season (11.67 games per year pre-injury versus 6.17 games per year postinjury) when averaged over the three seasons before the injury and the three seasons after the injury.3 There were also decreases averaging nearly 50% in power ratings of the returning players for the three seasons after the injury compared to the three seasons before the injury. These data indicate that even in players able to return to their former level of play, the quality of play may suffer permanently.

Average recovery time is 11 months which puts Beasons timetable right up to the beginning of the 2012 season. If the recovery takes longer than average for any reason, if there's major setbacks or if the staff just wants to be safe then it's questionable he'll be ready to start day 1 next season.

As far as demaryus thomas returning as soon as he has, he had a partial tear which makes a major difference. From what I've heard Beason has a full tear although I've yet to hear an official statement from anyone with the Panthers organization on this. If anyone has anything official to post stating one way or another go for it.
