Brandon Hogan Update

On the topic of KO returns, given that Goodson has put it on the ground before, and Pilares almost lost one Sunday, my thought is this:

Just take a knee everytime unless the kick doesn't reach the endzone. With our offense this season, I have no problem starting at the 20 every single time. With our kick unit, it's not worth the risk.

agreed. i trust even less our coverage units.

the only holes we can manage to make for returners are the ones for the other team. having to decide between a grandma slow guy and a fumble prone guy on kick offs just sucks.

Man, I don't know what Pilares problem is. He is fast and has speed, but he looks so hesitant to the point he seems like he's never actually running and committing to anything.

Look at what he is doing and Armanti in the punt returns, and it's just evident that some guys just naturally have return ability and others don't. Sure, they can improve on it and get better, but their better might not ever be a good as a natural returner.

Our problem is we keep trying to take guys who it doesn't come to naturally and MAKE them a KR/PR...

They should "baby" Hogan and not bring him back too early. We're 2-6, and the chances of uys going 8-0 and running the table dont look as good as thye would have had we pulled out the Vikings game.

No need to re-injure the kid when we're obviously going to make the Big Push next year anyways. I hope that RR doesnt rush this kid back for no reason.

Agreed. Even when there is a decent return with no fumble, there is usually some stupid penalty which puts us back inside our own 10 anyway. It's not even worth it unless you have a special return man like Hester or Smitty when he was younger.

Active him see what he's got... I say give him a shot at punt returner...no knock on armanti i'd like to see them try armanti at KR, he seems to not have enuff time to make a move and adding him to KR would give him a chance to get to full speed. Hogan can't be any worse than Sanford. It's a dead season so what better time to see what your young players got??

@josephperson Joe Person

Ron Rivera says Brandon Hogan (PUP list) worked with first-team D and returned kicks today. Still not sure whether they'll activate him.

What kind of schedule are they running this week? Wednesday is normally the first day of practice, plus, with the bye, some guys have tweeted about getting away for a few days. CJ says he's headed to Miami, and some others mentioned going to LA.

So who is Brandon Hogan practicing with?

RR gave some of the players the day off...not sure who, though. I know Legs is one.
