No I don't. I'm just acting like our defense isn't to blame for our losses, but he is and not even what most people consider to be a top 10 defense could have helped. Which is the truth.

No defense can overcome a 7% in comeback winning or game winning drive in 7 of 8 games. Defense has nothing to do with that statistic. It's the offenses responsibility to put away the game. So unless you expect our defense to score the winning points for us in the 4th quarter, no matter what kind of defense we had could have helped our winning record.

Our defense is also not the reason we are in tied or down by 7 games in the 4th quarter. Our offense is.

Too many people are saying things about the defense that are simply untrue, incorrect and have nothing to do with our losses. Because too many people don't want to actually make a true statement and say our offense is responsible for our losses, and not our defense and my guess is that because Cam Newton happens to be on that offense. And yes, he is a rookie, and yes it's the fact that he is in fact a rookie, and playing like one and not like vet, which is costing us our games.

Again we are using the defense as a scapegoat for Cam Newton, when it's just simply not true.

As for what I'm sure Pantherball is saying, he has clearly said untrue things and twisted statistics until they bled and has refused to listen to any coherent argument.

He's not going to make any sense or quit posting because he seems to really need a win on an internet forum, so stop bumping this thread or gif bomb it. But for the love of the God, stop encouraging him to ramble on about Cam Newton like the dude in A Beautiful Mind.

Who said it was Cam Newton's fault that our offense isn't getting good field position. It is Cam Newton's fault why other offenses are getting great field position giving them great field position against our defense.

Why do so many people have logically backwards statements? I can't prove to you that this offense is the main problem on this team. I can prove to you that this offense is the main problem when it comes to winning us the game, and that the one person who's had more to do with that than anyone else, is Cam Newton, our rookie QB. In fact I already have, more than once.

You always point to these drives you call "garbage time" because the game is already lost, saying that if Cam had scored on the previous drive then it would have mattered. But who do you think gave up the points to get us to garbage time in the first place?

We've had leads in the 4th quarter many times. Cam's had very few turnovers in the 4th quarter - in fact, the only turnover in the 4th quarter I recall he had was after our defense had already given up our lead. You focus a lot on the fourth quarter, so let's go with that. Cam and the offense give our defense a lead, the defense loses that lead. Just about every game this happens, and often in the 4th or late in the 3rd.

Cam isn't on defense in 3rd and long situations giving up huge completions to Christian Ponder time and time again, sorry. That's not to say our defense is solely at fault, but it's not getting the job done. Cam gets us leads, the defense loses them. Could Cam have gotten us bigger leads? Sure, but this is a young team with a new system that is still figuring out the offense. Yet they're putting us in a position to win every game at some point. If the defense tightens once we have a lead (and not just for one drive, sorry. Very few teams can consistently win shootouts like that), we're going to win games.

That doesn't make any sense. We have leads in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Then we don't. Do you think Cam is the one giving up the leads? Not a single turnover by Cam Newton has caused us to lose a lead in the 4th quarter as far as I recall, and while his int vs Atlanta broke a tie, our defense had already given up our lead and it'd be nice if we could count on them to stop an opponent from scoring a TD more than a couple times a game. Cam's turnovers that have come in the early or mid part of the game we've easily survived and come back from just fine, often taking a lead in the game.
