I know you don't know a lot about football so this is really hard for you but Shiancoe is actually a really freaking good tight end. You're making it sound like Jangler went out there lined up on the line and scored.

I'm pretty sure if you posted the actual play it didn't break down in any way, shape or form like you think it did.

BTW this reminds me how everyone would blame Godfrey for getting beat by WR's last year. Somehow this problem magically went away when Marshall headed to AZ.

Now, when we're on like our 19th LB, suddenly Godfrey sucks at covering TE's.

I just do not fuging understand b listers obsession with tossing Godfrey under the bus.

Hey cool guys... Just in case you thought it was completely impossible during the entire duration of an NFL football game for Godfrey to ever line up on the TE and cover him in man to man... Here is some proof.

You also have to think that in a normal year there would be players like Davis and Beason who would also cover TE's Both of those guys are very good at it so I think its kind of by default that he is covering TE's

During that last post, I began to wonder why I was proving my point to myself, because I'm realizing that if I want to discuss "football" this is becoming the wrong place to do that.

Hard to complain about trolls when some of the "informed" people often have even less to offer.

You're right, but even if they were healthy, it's likely that it would be Davis or Godfrey still covering a guy like Shiancoe or Gonzalez because of their ability to separate... Yet, with Godfrey's speed, he should be able to quickly recover if he is rubbed off or falls behind when the TE cuts.

Often times, even with all of our guys healthy, in a 4-3, the S would still get a TE, especially if he's a receiving threat (although it depends on the offensive formation).

Just because Godfrey is around the play does not mean he is at fault, it just shows he is playing his zone correct. All Im saying is that James Anderson is the one I saw lined up on him not Godfrey. When in zone they passed it in between the MLB and the SLB.

I like Godfrey and I give him respect because he is having to step up and do things he would never have to do on this defense because of all the injuries.

I will say Omar Gaither looked terrible when he had to play the zone in the middle of the field or guard one of the TEs. He looked like he was constantly out of position and I want to say Godfrey and Anderson were the two around his area to help clean up.

2 out of 3 of those plays in the video are man coverage. I proved my point. The safeties are interchangeable and we switch their positions depending on plays and assignments...

I showed Shiancoe running the same route he ran from what I described earlier in my post but with Martin covering him on that one. It was the exact same route.

I showed Godfrey tackled Shiancoe on a 3rd down conversion from the play by play.

What is so hard to believe about Godfrey covering Shiancoe in man coverage? I only posted all of this to prove it happened because several experts no one has ever heard of claim he didn't cover him in man coverage... I saw it with my own eyes.

And again, if you read my post with the video, I mentioned that I put the zone play in there to be a smartass and make a point - showing the difference between zone and man.

I proved my point.

Damn guys, I wasn't saying he's to blame for our defensive problems... I like Godfrey and love his game for the most part, but this has been an issue I've noticed over the last several weeks. I simply said he's had a hard time in man against these TEs. Yes, he's having to pick up a lot more slack b/c of all the LB injuries and obviously the backups are pretty limited... But, I'm not going to have someone insult my intelligence and tell me I didn't see what I saw.
