Winning takes Losing

Again, we took this route and there's little anything anybody else can do about it now. But please, please please stop telling people this is how it's supposed to be. That we're supposed to be losing and we should be ok with it.

Enough of this damn lie already. It's something you tell kids to help them fall asleep, not grown adults who can think for themselves, look around, and see that this is just a crock of poo.

we shouldn't be ok with losing, but we have to cope somehow right? should we all just go drown ourselves in booze over every defeat? there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel and I think we are all hoping it doesn't collapse on us.

What does Courtney Brown have to do with the fact that the majority who pick QB's 1st in a draft DON'T actually go on to win Superbowls? And the majority of #1 QB draft pics don't actually end up Superbowl Champions, nor elite? Or the teams who have picked consistently first are not actually any better than those that don't?

I'm failing to see how that is an example of the "way to do things".

you introduced him to discussion lol

why are you using such a limited statistic

How about teams who pick a QB 2nd overall or 3rd overall or 4th overall etc, etc.....

Another retard statement.

Again I fail to see how it's "supposed to be done".

Do you know what this organization's business moves since 2009 resembles to me?

An amateur gambling addict.

Only a gambling addict, and an amateur to boot, would sell of his valuable possessions, or stocks, to acquire capital or salary cap, so he could gamble it away in a lottery. Because that's all a #1 pick will be at best. A lottery ticket.

If they were at least professional gamblers, they would have at least played the odds and picked a QB somewhere else. Professionals play the odds not the "sure" thing. Your chances of winning are better.

And that's exactly what we did. We sold off a proven coach, proven players, refused to take other proven players on or looked for proven coaches and bet it all on Newton and another amateur coach.

Heck we could hire an economist, a finance executive, or even a professional sports bookie, and do a better job running this organization than a former journalist.

yeah and our number one pick turned out to be the golden ticket.

get the fug off this board, your noxious paragraphs are steaming feces masquerading as intelligence.

Pantherball which of the following do you find true (select only one)

1. I think Cam Newton is a Narcissist in the mold of Alexander the Great

2. We should create an online petition for getting the Panther logo at midfield

3. I'm middle aged and browse porn sites 5 hours a day for pictures of late adolescents

4. You guys wanna hear about my bogus batman in swimming trunks story? The one where i got stabbed like 80 times, run over by a car, fought 2 guys, and then I think a ryder truck backed into me while i was trying to save this girl. Also i was recovering from boric acid poisoning that day because someone laced my morning orange juice with visine. And then i was the victim of a drive by. And i also had fought 2 scheduled UFC matchups earlier in the day.

What exactly have we gained out of all of this? A #1 draft pick QB. Let's talk about #1 pick QB's for a second:

2010 Sam Bradford

2009 Matthew Stafford

2007 JaMarcus Russell

2005 Alex Smith

2004 Eli Manning

2003 Carson Palmer

2002 David Carr

2001 Michael Vick

2000 Courtney Brown

1999 Tim Couch

1998 Peyton Manning

Only two top pick QB's ended up Superbowl winners and only one of them can really be called Elite. And the only thing I believe they have in common that led them to a Superbowl is that they are Mannings and went to the right teams, not that they are #1 draft pics. The rest are so-so or not looking all that great.

Here's your Superbowl winners in the past decade other than those 2:

Aaaron: 24th

Brady: 7th rounder 4 times

Brees: 2nd round

Big Ben: 11th

James Bradley Johnson: 9th round

Trent Farris Dilfer: 6th

Kurtis Eugene "Kurt" Warner: undrafted

Other notable appearances:

"Kurt" Warner: undrafted 2 times

Jake Delhomme: undrafted

So no you don't need to lose your ass off to build your team and take a #1 pick as your QB to find you a Superbowl winning QB or take you to a Superbowl. In fact the odds are stacked against you. You don't need to lose your ass off so you can pick first and find you an elite QB either. In fact, the odds are stacked against you in this as well if you pick 1st! The only 1st draft pick to win a Superbowl and be called elite in the past 13 years since Peyton was drafted was Elway, #1 back in 1983 and it took him 14 years to win his first Superbowl. All of those years in between were a bunch of teams doing the same thing...not subscribing to this ideology.

.

The Colts in 1997. 3-13. After drafting Peyton in 1998. 3-13. In 1999. 13-3. It is possible for that to be us next year if you insist on trying to relate our team to recent history. I personally don't see the point.

#1 But I'm pretty sure what pissed you all off the most is that I also said O.J. Simpson, and could go either way, wasn't it? I still fully expect Cam Newton to do great things....good or bad. And he's shown that personality in both his wins and losses, from his extreme giddiness to his serial killer look in losses in his press conferences. It's there baby.

And Cam Newton is doing great things already. But last time I checked this was STILL a team sport.

Listen man....last year it was Clausen and the Future of the Franchise.

This year it's Cam Newton and the golden ticket.

You ALL eventually come around sooner or later, I just spot things a little bit earlier.

Name one other player we could have picked #1 overall that would have made as much of an impact as Newton. Pick a player, don't throw the "OMG TRADE DOWN!!" crap out because that rarely happens.

Name the "other" QBs you think we should have brought in. Kolb? McNabb? Hasslebeck? Moore? I'm betting it's Moore because the more you post the more you start to sound like one of those dipshit "he's not flashy but he has spunk/heart" posters everyone had to put up with during Delhomme's decline and Matt's persistent refusal to step up. Ever.

What "valuable possessions" did we throw out this off-season? We signed most of our FAs. Are you a Richard Marshall or Jeff King fan? Matt Moore apologist? Or are you bitching about not re-signing a head coach who gave up and pouted his way through his last season with us because he wanted a new contract he hadn't earned?

question 2:

why do you make such frivolous and irrelevant comparisons?

seriously? do you not see a difference in the way the panthers are playing this year than last year? Should we have kept foxy and jake? F*ing unreal.
