Are you a moderator...

In life in general, and on the Huddle, isn't it an ideal goal for all of us to be moderators? Don't extremes, one way or the other, cause the most vitriolic discussions on this board? Shouldn't the key be to agree to disagree about what he differ about, but to strive for common ground and cooperation where we can? When you scrutinize your posts, and be honest when judging your overall tone on the Huddle, are you a moderator? How about an Agitator, Escalator or Hate-orator (you heard it here first)?

Methinks you've been listening to your wife too much.

:)

To be honest, if I really did, I would probably be a lot better off right now. Maybe in the future?

Double Bs, for real tho', sometimes I just try and bring something a little different to the Huddle than the same ol' tired b.s., particularly during a boring off season.

Definitely man, I was just joking in light of your past thread about you and your wife's philosophical discussions.

As a whole, I really think the Huddle is one of the most rational fan base out there. Even in the obvious cases where opinions are divided--say our quarterback situation, for example--it seems most can rationalize their opinion pretty well and at least explain why they feel that way.

There will always be areas we disagree on, but I really think the posters here are pretty knowledgable and capable of voicing their opinions well.

I think that everyone has the right to their opinion and a license to publicize it as they wish. I only wish they do so responsibly. No need to attack others and insult one another. Discuss the issues and the varying opinions with some civility.

If there was something good about the "good old days", it was a politeness and courteousness manner which were displayed at least superficially in public places and forums. Surely we can do the same.

It seems to me if you argue with people just to get a reaction about an issue, you enjoy inciting others and riling them up. You don't feel passionate about an issue, yet you feel a need to create a controversy.

I don't understand why anyone would waste their time doing that. Fun? Seems twisted to me.

I hear it uttered most frequently at the end of a lost argument, as a way of saving face. "I didn't really believe it, I was just playing devil's advocate".

Agreed. As much as some people want to poo poo the rep system. It did keep the antagonism to a minimum.

count me in as another who misses the rep system. when used correctly it helped a lot. the problem was there were some who, when neg repped to the smack forum for legit reasons, would be rescued by someone who didn't think that they should be there.

i guess it all balanced out, though.

it worked. it would work again.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
