Phantom holding call

from what i saw he held his block for no longer then 2-3 seconds and then shoulder some other guy in the chest, but i would like to see another shot at it but from what i saw there was no hold at all.

The radio guys were talking about this on the ride home and saw what i saw...hands around the waist. Auto holding call.

Personally I think the NFL should be more like the NBA what it comes to the end of games. If its borderline a penalty, let it go. And thats not just going with holding, I would like to see that on PI calls as well. Let the guys that get payed 10x more than you get payed go out there and do their jobs. It would make for more entertaining football in my opinion.

i agree, unless its an obvious flag and that gave the other guy an advantage sure why not but when you call petty calls late in games or in clutch situations it just really ruins the game for me.

Watching it again I see no hands around the waist. He held his block of course with a little grab on the jersey while holding his block which happens all the time. When he went to turn around he let go

The CB Cam beat and was going to get the first down regardless. Thats why it was a b.s flag he threw just to throw. fug that

In every game we have played this season there have been truely horrible calls that have either cost us momentum on a drive or even cost us points directly and many noncalls that have led to points for the opposing team. Today it was the PI on Shockey and the 2 "holding" calls , especially the last one on Smith. Then on the Bear Hug by the Vikings that went uncalled. We are not good enough to overcome these things

To see video of the "hold' you need to wait for an instant replay from a different camera, because Smith and the defender weren't even in the fugging shot when Cam had taken off to the right side.

Yes, holding could be called on every play, but this shouldn't have been one of those times. Total bullshit.

Smitty held pretty clear. It' a call the refs are going to make most every time.

Seriously? I don't that was a hold. Obviously I'm biased, but just seems like we're getting tagged with alot of holding penalties that are just ordinary course.

I love how that hold was called, yet the hold on Godfrey by Shancoe on the shovel pass wasnt called, and whoever had James Anderson in a bear hug on the AP TD run wasnt called either. BTW, how many times have you ever seen facemasking called on the offense before these last 2 weeks?

people need to go back and look at that one, unbelievable

Smitty didn't hold, Nanee didn't hold earleir, and the offensive PI call on Shockey was pure BS. The defender was standing right in the path of Shockey's route on that play, so that should have been defensive PI, if anything. Really, it should have been a no call.

Even on the pass Smitty caught on the 1yd line, they called it a TD when the freakin side judge was standing 5 ft. away and looking right at it, but somehow he couldn't see Smitty hit the ground a full yard in front of the GL?

I don't know if it's just the crews that we are getting, but they have been absolutely horrible this year even on some calls that went our way as well.

Considering they don't have the angles we do and the chance to look at it 5 times in a row, in slow-motion as well as full-speed, I would say they do a decent job.

I imagine the ref on the Smitty TD play was too busy thinking about whether or not Smitty had possession.
