Just tell the truth about Jake...you don't love him

top dawg

Amazing how many folks just don't get it :nonod:

None of the people that I've seen who defend Jake would classify him as a Top 5 or Franchise type QB. And most of us frankly don't care.

He's far from the best QB in the league, and so what? Fact is that he is the best option that's available right now. Nobody else that's realistically available represents any sort of upgrade, so what's the point?

There are only two classes of quarterback that matter: Those that are good enough to win a Super Bowl and those that aren't. Despite his last playoff game, I still put Jake in category one.

Whether he's a star, a stat leader or a face of the franchise doesn't mean jack to me.

Jake is still gonna be the starting quaterback for the Carolina Panthers in 2009 right? Then yeah, I love him and support him. Just like when Peppers didn't look like he was coming back, he became dead to me. Now it looks like he'll be right back where he was next year, and if he is, I will love him and support him as well. I love the team, and regardless of viable talent and results, I always will. As such, the top 53 players in the NFL wear Carolina Blue every sunday as far as I'm concerned, Jake included.

Who can't like Jake the guy. He is classy, funny, a man's man, takes responsibility for everything, signs autographs and on and on. He seems like a good guy on and off the field.

As a player I like him when he plays well and leads us to another fourth quarter comeback. I don't, when he throws a WTF pass to the other team. Who likes every player all the time? They all have good days and bad days. Jake so far has had many more good days than bad ones.

As the quarterback of our team I respect him and will support him as long as he is in that role. I will always appreciate all he did for the team and the fact that he gave 100%. I never wonder if he really cares or if he is a leader in the locker room.

In the end that is more than enough for me.

Most people who take the time to think things through see Jake as a 4,5, or 6 QB when using a scale of 1-10. Meaning somewhere between below average and above average. Put me in the group that thinks of him above average because I am looking at everything he has done with Panthers from 2003-today equally. Those who dislike him are weighing the bad games twice as much as the good ones which makes little sense to me.

The Fact is when he has bad games. He really has a BAD game and it surprises people cause they are use to him bouncing back from a INT or a stalled drive.

If you had to decide...what are the 3 worst things that he does as a QB? (and he just sucks isn't a good enough answer....tell why he sucks.)

I hear ball security, too many INTs, locks in too much to one WR, too many fumbles, sacked too many times, too much of a turnover risk...so what are the worst of them?

What is it about him that is so horrible and will keep us from getting a Lombardi?

For me 2009 is the year for Jake. He is 2 years removed from his surgery so there are no excuses. He has a new quarterback coach and a decade of experience to fall back on. Quarterbacks as they age have to rely on their experience and knowledge of the game to replace any athleticism they may have lost over the years.

Jake has to have a good year this year and he knows it. If he wants to be there at the end of the year to fight it out for a Superbowl, he will have to be more consistent. He has shown the ability to rise up when he needs to. Now he needs to demonstrate the ability to make the right throws and adjust the playcalling to exploit the defense. Hitting the wide open guy means you don't have to make pinpoint throws in double coverage. Why is it that some teams seem to always be able to convert on third down and others don't. I think it because those team's have offenses that are built to exploit weaknesses with players who execute properly. Particularly at quarterback.

Veteran quarterbacks, as they age, change from relying on their physical skills to relying on their knowledge and experience playing against defenses. That is Jake's biggest challenge. THose that think it is elbow that is the biggest challenge are wrong. It is betwen his ears.

I hope his quarterback coach is good.:)
