Terry Bradshaw ranked Dalton ahead of Cam...

Bradshaw's silly.

Dalton averages a measly 6.8 YPA, which ranks 20th in the league. 17th in over 20, 14th in over 40 and his QB rating is 18th. Which ranks behind McNabb who was just benched for Ponder.

Cam's numbers are better in YPA, over 20, over 40, QB rating, yards and TD's. They also have comparable numbers in turnovers, yet the offense that Cam Newton runs is much more of a riskier offense and takes the most over 20 shots per game in the NFL.

I'd say that Bradshaw is silly, it takes a team to win games. Cam's number's smash and put Dalton's to shame.

They are, but Dalton has looked pretty damn good, and I don't recall anyone talking about the freakin' Bengals being a playoff team pre-season. He's winning, which is ultimately the measure.

So far this year, I think Dalton might be slightly better than Cam. Longer term, I'm very happy with Cam. No reason to get excited here.

Cam is having a great year and I wouldn't put any rookie ahead of him. We can all see his playmaking ability and will to win. The record may not show it but this kid is special. We are in a tough conference but in a few years the Panthers will be the team people are talking about. http://sosportz.blogspot.com

3000 yards, 60% comp, 21 TD, 13 INT is mediocre?

He was 18th in completion percentage, behind guys like Jason Campbell, Chad Henne, David Garrard and Joe Flacco

18th in passing yardage, again behind Campbell, Flacco, Garrard, etc.

Tied for 15th in TD passes

20th in yards per attempt behind the likes of Sanchez, Vince Young, Campbell, Garrard, Flacco

16th in passer rating behind more of the usual suspects

Then of course the playoff game where he went 18 of 36 for 146 yards and a 58.3 rating.

Which would all be fine if we were talking about a guy who was a rookie, but it's Carson Palmer who was being paid like a top 5 QB.

You know how some people are. Wins are the only thing that matters when judging rookie qbs.

But it can't be it is a team game, the way to judge any player is by how good they play. That would be like saying Trent Dilfer went 11-1 with the Ravens in 2000 when they won the Superbowl so he was the best QB in the league. We all know thats BS he had 1500 yards and 12 TD's and 11 ints. Dalton has a better special team and a better defense plus an easy schedule so far, he is not even the best rookie on that team, Green is.

    • Man whether it's the Panthers or the Hornets it's crazy how many foolish talking heads there are in the local media. I just unsubscribed from locked on Hornets. Doug Branson with his cheesy mustache is an absolute clown especially when his partner isn't on. Talking about trading LaMelo because he can't win basketball games by himself with no semblance whatsoever of a legitimate Center. These YouTube personalities will say anything for a damn click.
    • I’m hoping for that exact same scenario, two seconds would be big for us. I’d hope for 3 impact players. A WR/DL/DE that can contribute like this current class would be key to our rebuild.
    • When I look at what I can find, a carryover problem from last season is our receivers are still unable to get enough separation on a consistent basis. Canales is certainly better at scheming them open, like how he sneaked out Thielen for a big play. But then he's also having Thielen running routes he frankly shouldn't be doing anymore. I feel part of the RZ issues is not really having anyone - after trading Diontae - who can make those quick cuts on a short field to give whoever is under center a wider window to throw. We also only have one guy with blazing speed in Thompkins and from what I could see, he's really used more to draw away coverage. I bring this all up because what Canales needs for sustained success - other than QB - is the other receiver pieces we'll be getting in the offseason.  Otherwise, I have to say that Canales isn't as afraid to be aggressive offensively. As others mentioned, still doesn't run the ball enough at times. Finally, I still feel his playcalls still doesn't line up with his mantra of getting rid of the ball within x amount of seconds. Maybe I count too slow. Oh, and I'm glad Canales first game after a bye looked good. I feared he'd be like Ron Rivera where we would fall flat on our faces.
