Terry Bradshaw ranked Dalton ahead of Cam...

Yes because Cam has to do it alone. He doesn't have help from Smith, Shockey, Olsen, Stewart, no one. He alone shoulders the whole offense.

No one is debating if the team's failures (at least I'm not) goes to one side of the ball, but to say that the offense needs to score more in order to cover for the defense's slack is just.. Asinine.

The offense is just as responsible for a lost as the defense. The offense job is to score when they have the ball.

Even the greatest of offenses cannot follow this creed, let alone an offense led by a rookie QB. Again, your expectations of an offense scoring everytime they touch the ball is just off.

It's kind of hard to do that when the defense is allowing 6+ minute scoring drives. The NFL is a game of rhythm and ball control. When the defense is on the field all game long, you're not going to get much of a balance.

The defense job is to stop the opposition from scoring. When one part fails to do their job, the other part is supposed to step up. That is how teams win games in the NFL.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't help that this defense is 28th rank in points allowed. Roughly giving up scores 2 out every 3 drives.

We're not the Colts, and damn sure not the Patriots.

That'd be interesting. And we would probably win more games this year, but I would rather have the guy that looks like the better quarterback longterm.

This is a good point. I think everyone forgot 2 years ago that the Bengals had one of the better defenses in the league and that they were winning despite mediocre play from Carson Palmer, and were easily bounced in the first round of the playoffs by a team that was built the same way (the Jets). Last year, their defense got hammered by injuries, and all of a sudden everybody thinks that Cincy was a team that was as terrible as we were last year. Let's see how long their formula for success lasts if Mike Zimmer ends up getting another job and Mike Brown continues his interference in running that team.

3000 yards, 60% comp, 21 TD, 13 INT is mediocre?

Bradshaw's silly.

Dalton averages a measly 6.8 YPA, which ranks 20th in the league. 17th in over 20, 14th in over 40 and his QB rating is 18th. Which ranks behind McNabb who was just benched for Ponder.

Cam's numbers are better in YPA, over 20, over 40, QB rating, yards and TD's. They also have comparable numbers in turnovers, yet the offense that Cam Newton runs is much more of a riskier offense and takes the most over 20 shots per game in the NFL.

I'd say that Bradshaw is silly, it takes a team to win games. Cam's number's smash and put Dalton's to shame.
