For probably the 1,000,000th time....scariest movie you've ever seen?

The Shining is the best horror movie of all time. Insanity is way scarier than blood and guts. I also think it is one of the very rare cases when the movie is better than the book.

Both. I like the book more and that TV remake was a little closer to the story but was terrible.

The Shining is also a great tripping movie.

Dead and Buried. very underground but man its a good one.

I actually watched this movie about a month ago. The premise was creepy, but I guessed the ending so it didn't have the shock value it might have had with others.

First movie that scared the hell out of me was Nightmare on Elm St., one of my personal favorites is Night of the Demons (the original) the acting is pretty awful until about half way in when poo hits the fan but I dare anyone to watch it in the dark alone.

Trick R Treat is a fantastic halloween movie also. One of the best for the holiday now in my opinion. Sam is the man.

Also I like the Paranormal Activity films, and I just saw part 3. That movie was crazy. Very good, especially for a 3rd film in the series. Got more jumps out of me than many movies have. Highly recommended to see in theatres.

Other recommendations:

30 Days of Night (Very underrated vampire flick)

Fright Night

Insidious (I had night terrors as a kid, so it creeped me out)

Dead Silence

The Thing (1982)

The Shining

Night of the Living Dead

Halloween (1978, still holds up, love Carpenter)

In the Mouth of Madness (good for Lovecraft fans)

I'm sure I could think of more, but I'll stop there.
