Who are the keepers on defense?

If we can't get Matt Kalil in the draft, I think OLB should be our first pick.
this is the direction i'm heading as well.

OLB is the only big need we have on defense going into next year. i feel good enough about the rest of it. i think we have a really solid LB corps overall. we just need someone who can be a legit starter taking over for TD.

DE is set.

i would like some more experience in the interior of the Dline and edwards would bring that, but i'd also like another guy brought in via FA so we have a solid rotation. get mcclain and fua a full offseason with a year under their belts and some help in the rotation and they'll be solid for years.

CBs are good enough as is. i really want to see hogan in action, though, but even with that we are doing ok with gamble, capt., and butler.

some depth at safety would be good, but that isn't all that difficult to come by.

RT and OLB are the biggest needs and should be addressed first. beyond that, i feel like the rest of the draft needs to focus on special teams both in coverage and returns. that's been neglected for far too long.

Just a thought but let's say we end up with a later first round draft pick next year bc our season goes better than projected. You guys think it would be a good idea to maybe trade away a pick for let's say a guy who has been in the league and has proven himself. I haven't sit down and thought about examples but it seems smart to explore all possibilities to building a winning team. When I say proven I mean like 3 to 5 years experience! I know alot of people are hooked on building in the draft but things don't always pan out.

Also defensive players I'd look to draft with our pick in the first round are Janoris Jenkins(best shut down corner in college football plus a dynamic returner), Morris Claiborne, Zack Brown or Vontaze Burfict. Not really any great D linemen as of right now worthy of a first round pick. Definately some decent ones in the 2nd though.

Stay away from Burfict. Hes a jerk player and a cheap shot.

Keep Fua, drop McClain. I would rule TD out yet either, assuming he reworks his contract for more incentive base.

lol. And after that, we'll drop Beason, and keep Connor. Way more fun to drop the less talented players who have underperformed over their counterparts.

At this point, FS could really stand to use an upgrade defensively, as could OLB due to the lack of depth. Those two positions need it the most. Fua will likely be replaced with a FA DT next year, the poor guy just isn't getting any push.

Yes he is....a push right back into the linebackers! From what I have seen I would definetly keep McClain and drop Fua. I don't understand why it takes some people so long to see some players just don't have it at this level. Sometimes it's worse than a parent pulling for their kid who runs down field in the wrong direction in Pop Warner.

Burfict is too much of a wildcard, a loose cannon who's more concerned with the big, illegal hit than wrapping up. No interest in this guy.

Zach Brown, on the other hand, looks like a great fit at OLB.

I want a FS too and move Martin to CB.

Don't need CB right now, DT isn't that big of a need and wr have more needs on defense than offense, but there some appealing candidates there.

not sure i like the idea of having more position moves.

martin is fine at FS. safety depth is a need, though. agreed about CB and DT, though.

haven't seen enough college ball this year to know much about the prospects. i do think we need a TD clone so whoever fits that bill i'm in favor of.
