because we play a lot of zone.

by that rational butler is worse than bodden, and he's been doing alright.

they cut butler for bodden not knowing how bad bodden was. they did it prior to the season.

they are probably kicking themselves right now about doing that.

bodden is done.

Yeah, well, Joe Person just reported that if Butler can't go we'll start Captain and have R.J. Stanford as our nickel CB.

...

Yeah, I'd rather have Bodden.

saw this on the boston globe written by one of their better beat reporters, greg bedard:

  • The first thought that came to mind when I heard of Bodden’s release was when I saw him in the locker room yesterday, he wasn’t walking well. I think health has been an issue for him and it has affected his play. Whether he wanted to sit and the team thought he should play or vice versa, I don’t know. I find it curious that his agent, Alvin Keels, put out a statement that said Bodden was healthy. Obviously it's an issue.
  • If Bodden isn't injured, then he's on the downside of his career. He was not effective.
  • The bottom line is this: Bodden was not the same player he had been even early in training camp, whether that was because of injury or some other factor, we don’t know. But the fact of the matter was he had lost a step. When Ras-I Dowling is healthy, the pecking order would be: Arrington, McCourty, Dowling and then Bodden or Molden.

he's an old CB that is either hurt or wearing down at a rapid pace.

i seriously doubt he has much left in the tank if he isn't hurt. he won't be a help. more likely to be a liability.

won't help. that isn't to say that stanford is anything special, just that bodden is that bad.

or belicheck's whole defensive scheme is f*cked up...

there some good players in that defense that are playing very poorly right now.

i honestly don't know... but know I'd feel the same way if they cut Haynesworth and he hasn't had a freaking tackle since wk 1.

i'd be more interested in haynesworth. it's just motivational for him. although he's a high maintenance guy and probably isn't worth the stress and effort because if the hooded one can't get something out of him, i doubt anyone could.

if bodden can make things better here, sure, bring him in. i just don't think he can. i think he's essentially done.

if someone has to pick him off waivers, they have to pay him $2.29mil for the rest of the season. he'd be the 3rd (stretch) or 4th best corner here....maybe. too much money. wait until he passes waivers and the pats will have to pay him and whoever takes him on can pay him the vet min. makes more sense to do that considering what you are getting.

if we do bring him in, i don't want it to be until he clears waivers. dude has too high a price tag for what he is capable of doing.
