Blame Warren Sapp for that.

He called McNabb "a runningback who throws" and McNabb wasted a lot of effort trying to prove that conception of him wrong, even passing up good running opportunities that could have helped win games in the process.

Sapp was one of the better "mind game" players in the league during his career.

McNabb also packed on a few pounds as his career went on... I think that hampered his running ability to some extent as well.

West Coast systems really need mobile QBs because he backs don't block as much. That's one reason why you can see a guy like Jeff Garcia look like a world Hester playing in that system and an utter chump in others.

Smitty's block was incredible. He was standing up straight, not even looking at his guy. and was owning him the whole time. So UNDERrated in his blocking game. 89 is such a beast.
