I think the main problem with the Wii is developers didn't really know how to effectively build games around motion controls and what we as consumers wound up getting were essentially spruced up collections of tech demos.

Unfortunately, they sold well.

But there is hope. Titles like Mad World and the Dead Rising redux show that there is a bit of a push by third parties to appeal to the hardcore/more mature audience. Hopefully by the end of this year the Wii's library will have been pulled out of the depths of mass appeal hell.

The director for The Twilight Princess has stated time and again that, no matter how long it takes, he isn't interested in releasing a new Zelda game for the flagship console until he is convinced that it is better than Ocarina of Time. And with Miyamoto's blessing, he pretty much has the pull needed to take as much time as he wants.
