QB Rushing TD Season Record

Answer the question, don't be a douche. I think he gets it

f*ck you guy. He asked what I thought about the record, i think a rushing TD record for QBs is meaningless. If I was being a douche you'd know it.

Do i think cam breaks the record? yes. does it make him a better QB? not really.

He is rushing for TDs because they roll him out to stretch the defense and he sees a seam and goes for it. Some of the plays are scripted quarterback draws but given he is bigger and stronger than either Stewart and Williams why wouldn't you use him as a weapon.

This is going to be a theme going forward until he decides not to do it or he gets hurt. Our redzone offense has improved significantly when we turned him loose. I doubt we go backwards.

i think he will break the record this year pretty easily.

i don't think he tops it in the future, though. except for the few scripted run lays for him, running the ball is essentially a bailout at this point. the need to bail himself out will be less and less as time goes on and as he and the rest of the players on the O gets experience in the system together.

I don't wanna say I don't care, but really, I just wanna see Cam continue to improve, win as many games as possible, and whatever records or numbers he puts up comes second. We'll see where they lie.

I think his season overall will be a record of some sort, not individual statistical records. I'm looking for something bigger here. He's playing style doesn't help him fit into any one particular stat category. He's getting screwed on passing touchdowns because he runs so many of them in himself as well as QB rating. He's getting screwed on passing yards because of him putting up 50-60 a game with his legs.

People need to look at the "total" package. You can see how retarded some of those comparisons are because when it comes to direct QB comparisons you keep hearing Cam's passing TD's to interception ratio, which makes him look average, but none of those figures take into consideration his rushing TD's and vice versa. That makes no sense considering TD's make up for 25% of a QB rating. They need to re-invent the way we track QB performance to really be able to judge Cam Newton.

And don't say total QB rating because it is retarded. That's not even close to being a reliable, objective statistical number.

If Cam does break the record, which I think he will, it is a huge accomplishment for a rookie QB.

so far everything he has done has been a huge accomplishment for a rookie QB.

some will point out that there have been a few teams as of late that have gone to the playoffs with their rookie QB, but those particular offenses were designed to protect the QB from making mistakes by relying heavily on the run game and limiting the QB to safe high percentage passes. all they have managed to do is groom early 1st round QBs into game managers on teams running an antiquated brand of football.

meanwhile, the panthers put the game squarely on newton's shoulders and let him take risks. they aren't grooming a game manager. they are grooming a game dominator.

in the long term, newton >>>> ryan, flacco, or sanchez mainly because of the way they handled him compared to those guys teams despite how many games their teams won in their rookie season.
