Can Vikings handle Newton? (NFL Network Video)

i've always hated it when two players on the same side of the ball are compared head to head like that - "will brady beat manning????" is stupid because brady is not directly playing against manning, he's playing against the defense, and that's where the matchups should be analyzed.

The first matchup I can remember the media touting was Sam Huff and Jimmy Brown. I thought that made sense.

No defense has "handled" Newton yet. He'll get stopped sometimes, but he always finds ways to make plays. INTs have been the biggest knock right now, so maybe the question is, can the Minny D force him to make some bad throws? Answer is probably yes...with Jared Allen on the edge, he will get pressure. But like last week, I don't see the Minnesota offense being able to do enough to keep up. Even with AP.

I firmly believe we can beat any team in the NFL right now, if we can get out of our own way. When Cam has a game like he had against the Skins, we're almost impossible to handle... so many layers of weapons on offense.

We can definitely go toe-to-toe with any team in the league. I also hate the comparison to Roethlisberger. Cam is just Cam. He is so much faster and more dynamic than Ben. When was the last time Ben ran an option play?

it stopped Hightower so maybe it can stop AP...not wishing for him to get injured but just hoping that it will make somewhat of a difference.

You get Minnesota out of that dome though, and they just don't seem as ferocious. I like our chances at home.

Also anyone miss when we got turnovers regularly? Last week felt so good. I really want Gamble to get some more INT's so he'll start getting some national recognition for how well he is playing this year.

Damn, Cam media love is in full swing today. And people were worried about Tebowmania. The media isn't so stupid after all. They can see the difference and are paying dues accordingly.

Winning and a total QB performance gets attention. If Cam keeps playing like he did Sunday he'll get the attention.

Observation: Cam was all business in that interview clip. No BSing about the Vikings. Cam is preparing and not treating the Vikings lightly.

I agree with you guys, as long as we don't trip over our own massive offensive dick, we can pull a win out despite our defense. It would certainly help if we can limit AP somewhat though. This might turn into another Jacksonville game where a powerhouse running team with a rookie QB comes in. We make them throw, it'll be over.
