Why is it that all we've heard about all week is The Golden Calf of Bristol???? Last time I checked He doesn't lead in any QB statistical category. I believe that Cam leads in at least 5.

cmon no one gave Cam a chance because he is a minority at his position. I guarentee u if Cam was white when he came out of college, there wouldnt have been much speculation on taking him #1 etc.

I don't want to rehash all of this but that doesn't mean those people are racist (talking about draftniks in particular here). It is usually just a subconscious thing.

No, again, I think it has more to do with the schools they are coming out of: USC > Baylor in the media's mind. And I've read scouting reports that place RG3 ahead of both those guys.

Dilfer gushes about every quarterback. It's like Skip Bayless saying something annoying. It's cool he said all that stuff, but he was just as excited if not more about Mark Sanchez. Dude just loves quarterbacks.

Nah, not all of them. I remember listening to ESPN Radio after the draft and he ripped the hell out of Christian Ponder, giving thorough explanations on why he wouldn't be a good NFL QB. Same interview, he gushed over Andy Dalton.

Yeah I think it has more to do with me never hearing the name "Robert Griffin III" before they upset TCU this year. Baylor is a barely talked about team. I never heard of Blaine Gabbert before the media started hyping him up before the draft his last year.

You get much greater exposure to QBs in nationally important programs, whether black or white. For example Terrell Pryor.

Tell that to one of the Bengal fans who posted on a "Cam Sucks" thread on their site, that Luck was a better QB than Cam because he was white and went to an elite college...As ignorant as that sound, some folks do see race as reason for Cam not being able to succeed as an elite QB in the NFL. There is no getting around that.

Luckily "some folks" don't matter at all and have no impact on the draft process, or even really the national media.

And let's be real...No one knows how Luck is going to work out either but considering Cam beat him in every QB catagory during college, it should have been only fair that he was given a chance by the media. Luck isn't playing pro football. He's playing college football. No matter what type of offense he's part of, he still has to prove himself.

It doesn't matter how Cam has done in the pros right now because scouts can't see into the future, it's basically unarguable that Luck looked like the better pro prospect. On film he looks like the second coming of John Elway while Cam was impressive in an offense that is rarely used in the pros. I actually don't expect Luck to be as good as Newton but I do think we obviously would have taken him first overall, and it would have been the smart pick based on the evidence. We're "Luck"y he didn't come out.

Why was Cam constantly told that college and the NFL were not the same. Now we're saying that Luck shouldn't have a hardtime adjusting...hmmmm..Like how many QB who came from a pro offense, are elite QBs in the NFL?

Um, lots of them. Most of the elite QBs in the NFL came from a pro style offense, or at least a more pro-style version of the spread than Auburn's where Newton ran as much as he passed.

Are you saying Andrew Luck...he's mobile, he's played well in college, no haters...I'm not a college guy but it would be so ironic if he bombed in the NFL after all the hype and hoopla.

meh. Clausen was said to be "pro ready" but looking at a lot of game film he looiked like a jv highschool player compared to Andrew luck.

The ONLY media guy that was hyping up Clausen and calling him "pro ready" was Mel Kiper, and I think he was getting paid by Jimmy's agent. The rest were saying he sucked and probably wouldn't go in the first round.

I'm convinced that the only reason the Panthers picked him was they didn't expect him to be there by the time they had a pick so they didn't scout him thouroghly, if they did I think we would have gotten Colt McCoy instead (or just rolled with Moore).
