If AFC vs. NFC, what is the deciding factor on which game goes on CBS vs. FOX

I always thought if the AFC team is home, it would be on CBS. Same for FOX with a NFC team

Lets take Tennessee for example. They are playing at home and if you live in TN you get three games unlike us, who only get 2.

1 pm CBS - Tennessee Game

4 pm CBS - NE @ PITT

4 pm FOX - Detroit @ Denver

So there has to be more to it.

So there has to be more to it.

It's because CBS has the DH this week. The Titans play the Colts early, so that's the only game that can be on at that time in NSH. Their FOX affiliate can only show a late game. CBS can air both games.

If FOX had the DH this week, the Colts-Titans game would be on early and then the Lions-Broncos on late. Fox couldn't air an early game even though they have the DH.
