After 7 games, is Cam already a.....

Top 10 QB. The top 5 would seem set with Brady, Manning, Rogers, Brees, and Rivers. The next level would include the other Manning, Ryan, Romo, Rothelsberger, Schaab, Stafford,Vick, Foreman, and maybe Cutler. I think that Cam already fits in this group, and possibly toward the top of it. His ability to extend plays with his legs and our 3rd down conversion % is already top 5 and his accuracy and poise has been reasonably consistent in each game. Even Merril Hoge of the four letter network, who initially rated Cam as an overated project, has now seen enough to say that he looks like he's been in the league for 5 years. Of course you can't be rated high with a losing record, even if you're carrying the team. But if we finish with a 9-9 record, next year's lists will have him somewhere between 6-10.

newton is hovering on being a top 10 passer. he is already a top 5 QUARTERBACK (not passer) considering his leadership and dual threat. as this offense opens up more and more (we are just starting to see this, running triple options, pistol formations, fake draws, etc) this is going to be even more apparent when we start throwing in the occasional wildcat and other creative misdirection plays. cam is going to draw so much attention from defensive players that it will take players completely away from the play.

he basically allows us to do the "play action" of a run play by freezing up or misdirecting linebackers and safeties. the first 5 games were an experiment, seeing how cam responds to being relied on to be a competent nfl passer. he exceeded expectations and now he is going to start to be really let loose.

also his pocket passing is likely to improve even further.

lol. Can we please wait until Cam has even one game when we're down on points running a 2 minute offense late in the 4th quarter and scoring for the win or tie before we do this? And then wait for him to do it once more time after that before opening this discussion. Or how about we wait until his QB rating at least crosses the 90.0 mark. Right now he compares favorably to Vick.

Yeah as long as you only expect to win when we're up by 2 scores or more or playing the Jaguars in a monsoon.....he's up there with those guys and can put up a bunch of yards. If you ignore consistency, sure. If you ignore ability to call a no huddle, and read defenses like a book and trick them with just a look, sure. If you ignore winning in clutch fashion late in the game, sure.

He's definitely in the top 5 rookie QBs of all time but you are getting way ahead of yourself and being awfully disrespectful or at least awfully discrediting to guys like Brady, Brees, Peyton, etc.

get into the playoffs with an 8-8 record, win our first game and lose our second.o

duh. ;)

Well no poo. Silly me . Thanks

Looking ahead the only qb I'd really consider over him is Rogers. Manning is on the way out and Brady and brees aren't getting any younger. Cam is a true dual threat qb and bigger than most linebackers. Rogers and Cam will lead the next group of qbs everybody can fall in line.

Rivers is not with that to group.

Elite: Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees in no order

Tier 1: Roethlisberger, Romo, Vick, Cam, with Stafford and Freeman on the bubble

Then theres the Manning, Rivers, Ryan, Sanchez, Schaub, Fitzpatrick level with Dalton, Bradford, and Cassel on the bubble on down through Flacco, Smith, and Kolb group of guys that have been or could be good.
