Cam Newton a product of his system?

Yeah the American system. The African American athletic superiority system due to gene pool selection from slavery 500 years ago. And Cam's like in the 0.1% of that group, like Peppers, Jordan, Lebron. If you're talking about that system, I agree.

Other than that Cam's anything but a product of the system. With the exception of Sunday this team's "system" looked pretty shaky and still does for the most part. I'm pretty sure it's not even completely in place yet, whatever they are still trying to do. He was still playing mainly on instinct up until this past weekend. But we're still calling the majority of our plays from shotgun. When they fully transition Cam to the NFL maybe.

Right now Cam's actually making Chud use his college system at the NFL level. He's also leading the way and teaching the coaches a winning mentality NOW!

Seriously, that's what it looks like to me. Rivera's following Cam's winning philosophy, which is a lot better than what I suspect we would have from just Rivera but it's bad that it's Cam that's leading that spear. He's not learning that from Rivera. He should be, or should have been, but that's a different argument.

A lot of it is...It's this same layout with wrinkles for Cam...When Anderson went to the pro bowl it was all about stretching the field, Braylon Edwards had 13 touchdowns...

Not the same layout at all. Cleveland ran one TE sets. They most certainly never ran 2 RB sets. Maybe the WR patterns were the same, but the formations were completely different. I believe the formations you see now are more from the Chargers than what Chud is use to running.

Lets not forget Derek Anderson had a pro bowl year under chud...So unlike Indy, I feel if Cam went down we would have little to no drop off in the passing game... (rushing would obviously take a hit) I feel the coaching staff feels the same and that is why Anderson got a 5 year deal...The offense is built solely around a strong arm. Yes it does require accuracy but for the most part it's about stretching the field. Cam Newton is amazing don't get me wrong, but I feel if he went any where else we wouldn't be comparing him to the MJ of the NFL. Chud deserves a deal for the ages for the way he turned this O around. It's plug and play for years to come Panther's fans enjoy!

There's a huge difference in Newton and Anderson. Yes, Anderson can make the throws. But what Newton brings is mobility and a running threat. With the running threat, the defense has to account for where Newton is at all times, or he'll take off for a ten yard gain. That generally means one less defender in deep coverage.

As for the mobility, look at all the plays that Newton extends with pocket awareness and his ability to escape the rush and then throw. If Anderson is back there, that's a sack. Frankly, Clausen's dink and dunk would be better than Anderson trying to be Cam. That's not to take away from him, but he just isn't physically equipped to do what Newton does.

If Chud has figured out an offensive system that can literally make any schmuck look like a pro-bowler, then yes, he deserves boatloads of money as a head coach somewhere.

If he instead, perhaps, knows how to tailor a system to take advantage of the weapons he has, then he desearves a healthy pay raise as our OC.

If, however, Peyton Manning can take Jim Caldwell to a Super Bowl, f**k you and everything you think.

i don't think anyone would seriously believe that newton is a product of the system. he benefits from it and the freedom it gives him and in that it is built in such away that it fits his skillset really well.

the system also massively benefits from him and has quite a few aspects that are there only because of what he brings. it's built around him. part of what chud and shula did pre-draft was go into rivera and hurney and show them what they could do with the offense to make use of his skillset.

the system chud planned on using and had used was massively adapted and in a sense built around newton and what he can do.
