Cops have a very tough job.

Look at the 4 that got killed in Oakland over a "routine" stop. Routine for who?

Hindsight is 20/20, not sure if the driver said this but maybe he could have said call this hospital..she is in the emergency room whatever.

The worst time to make a mistake. The driver made one and the cop made one.Add them together and you get this.

very admirable of Moats to not play the "Don't you know who I am" card during the stop. His arguement remained that there was an emergency and time was a precious commodity.

Yet again, a fine example of 1% of a segment of society managing to villify the remaining 99% (this singular officer being a dick vs ALL officers being dicks).

On the officer's language: Poor - I just don't see the need for an officer to use offensive language towards anyone, especially since that could escalate a normal situation into a violent one. I have a lot of respect for officers that keep their cool and composure when the other person is not. Just look at traffic stop videos where cops keep it cool while the driver is yelling, screaming, and throwing vulgarities.

this is a major problem to me. he says I CAN SCREW YOU. you can screw me? really? What are you gonna do, make some poo up that I didnt do?

and I think he is right to pull the race card. you are in denial if you think racial profiling and racist cops dont exist.

Cop was a dick.

Racial profiling.

Cop didn't use common sense.

But what bothered me was he threatened to take the guy to jail over running a red light.

Technically, I guess it's possible. But in an emergency case like that, and Moats acting respectful to the cop, just explaining his situation, my lawyer would have been all over his ass for that poo.

Another example of a cop using his authority to push someone around.

I hope Moats sues the poo out of the cop and the city police.

After hearing the story on the news I had an opinion about the whole deal.

After watching the actual video I have another opinion. Painful to watch actually.

Something similar happened to my brother. Grandfather was dying in the hospital...my brother was trying to get there in time. He hit a traffic jam and decided to make a U-turn....cop chased him down and gave him a ticket and my grandfather passed 10 minutes before my brother arrived.

I completely agree. There is no reason the cop couldn't let him go inside to see his mother and just wait outside of the damn room.

He should be fired.

I told this story to my dad... He said I bet cop was white and dude was black... check

I told this story to my gf... She said I bet cop was white and dude was black.. check

I wish people would stop with the "Race Crap" everytime anything happens.

Was the cop insensitive? Yes.

Was it due to Race? Absolutely no proof of that.

I got pulled over by a cop in Illinois last year and he was a complete dick. He was also an African American. I did not blame race for it....as it had nothing to do with the situation. Regardless of race, he was a dick.

Sick of hearing from you people who try and blame race for every questionable thing that happens to an African American.

Regardless of anything else, the cop should have given the benefit of the doubt to the fugitive, (if you want to use that term) in a life or death matter. Plenty of time to work it out later should it prove untrue. Go with the flow, man, go with the flow...

I think that was blown out of proportion a whole lot. How many times do you suppose people might actually lie to the cops? How many times do you suppose innocent looking people might try to shoot a cop? This all looks fine and dandy once the dust is settled and the facts are there, but you cop bashers all need to remember that for the post part, cops deal with the scum of society and they have to deal with every person they pull over as the next potential cop killer. Moats is obviously going to be emotional and all that with his MIL dying and poo, but that don't give him the right to blow red lights and stop signs and not provide the vehicle documentation when asked to do so.

I agree with you completely except for one reason. He was at the hospital, all the cop had to do was walk inside and he would know the truth. He could have written the ticket up while Moats was saying goodbye to his mother in law and presented it to him when he came out. But he didn't, he chose to be a badass. Obviously, his bosses thought that was a bad decision, apparently you do not...

You have to treat every case the same, or you actually can run into race/sex problems as a firefighter/emt/police officer.

While he was a dick, thats his job, and lets don't sit here and say that motorists that have on their hazard lights should not be stopped because it's an emergency.

Would I be pissed if I was the one stopped, yes. Am I going to call out a cop for giving them a bit of a hard time after two of the occupants fled from the vehicle.....no.

Tough situation for both parties.

I have had some time to think on this, and I still feel the exact same way.

How many times has an officer heard that the person was only speeding to make it to the hospital in time for a birth/death....etc..

The cop played it right, a little dickish, but not racial at all.

And yes, I would assume that he could take him to jail after two passengers fled from the vehicle.

As soon as he pulled a gun on the wife and kept Moats even after the hospital staff verified Moat's mother in law was on her deathbed he lost any and all sympathy.

I hope his tazer malfunctions and shocks his dick off.
