Think the Panthers get flexed to Sunday Night down the road?

I remember on a thread about a month ago we were having the same discussion. One of the theories thrown around was that these two games were the NFL's attempt at saving the franchise...that maybe some primetime slots would rile up the fans and create a buzz about the team. At this point I think we can all agree, if this is the case, that we should not have to suffer through mediocre primetime football just because Jax is a pooty pro football town. Let nature takes its course and move that team to LA.

Exactly. It isn't the whole countries fault that they suck and they have a terrible fan base.

WK 13 at the moment is Colts vs Pats.

That week Carolina is at the Bucs.

In fact, that might be the ONLY week to get flexed for SNF with the exception of WK 17 that hasn't been announced yet.

Carolina closes on the road vs the Saints so WK 17 might even be an option.

Not a chance in my opinion. New York and Green Bay play that week. If anything, that game gets flexed. Atlanta/Houston and Detroit/New Orleans would be ahead of us that week as well.

Nice thought though.

after they took that 57 point schallacking already on a Sunday night, it isn't hard to fathom.

Could be any of these games if we do get one: TB, DET, HOU, ATL or NO

where are u getting 57 pts from? if u mean the point differential u might wanna reconsider elementary school.

And Jax managed to get the W somehow, wow, that was a difficult game to watch... After watching Gabbert, in a "non-monsoon" type setting, (although with the numbers/score you might have thought the game was played during a monsoon if you didn't know) it makes me appreciate Cam even more. Can't really imagine what the season would be like without him under center for us.

HOLY poo...Jacksonville has TWO monday night games at home? Didn't they go 8-8 last year?

who makes these mnf schedules? ray charles?

I think this is a means of resuscitation by the NFL before they start deciding what to do with LA. Give them a jolt of publicity and hope that the fans keep coming. Unlike 2009 when they blacked out all but 1 game. And even though they sold out last year they were still in danger of blacking out their MNF game.

Yes they had a home MNF game last year. In which they scored 3 points.

I have to think the an owner like JR has offered to deal with 8 1:00 Sunday games AGAIN with the understanding that we will get our share of primetime games in the future.

Keep in mind regarding Flex:

Since the 2006 season, the NFL has used a "flexible scheduling" system for the last seven weeks of the regular season when there is a Sunday night game. This is because by week 11, there are a number of teams that have been removed from playoff contention. Flex-scheduling ensures that all Sunday night games have playoff significance. As an example, the Vikings played the Panthers in December 2009. The latter team was out of playoff contention, but Minnesota needed a win to acquire the #1 NFC seed. This system also allows teams that enjoy unexpected success to acquire a prime time spot that was not on their original schedule. Thanksgiving games and all games airing on cable channels (Monday, Thursday, and Saturday games) are fixed in place and cannot be changed, as are games during Christmas weekend whenever Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, as it will in 2011 (most games are played on Christmas Eve Saturday instead).

So Tampa on Dec 24 can't be flexed
