I just have one question. Have you seen one successful 2 minute offense YET from this team? I haven't. Neither in the first half or at the end of the game. That concerns me a lot more than run defense. We choked every time we had to go into this mode.

30 seconds of digging and I found an example: we scored a touchdown with 1:03 left, starting from our own 26, in the first half of the very first game.......

Ok, there's one. Any in the 4th quarter?

PS: What was Newton's QB rating during that game?....might tell you something there.

 actually it is the complete opposite of that. Wow. It analyzes the stats further to give you a more complete picture of a defense other than PPG and total yards which in a vacuum are the worst ways to determine how good your defense is. At least at nfladvancedstatistics they do.

Now I am just getting sad for you :(

Maybe you should create a new alt and start over.... again.

The only thing that's sad is how you continue to refuse to see a top 5 offense shouldn't be ranked 14th in scoring. It's sad how you continue to ignore that next to points turn-overs and QB ratings have been the most significant statistics in football since football existed. You reach for the most off the wall poo to not have to admit when Cam makes too many mistakes and this offense doesn't finish we lose. When we have no turn overs, Cam plays like he should, and we play a complete game offensively we win AND our defense looks better.

Everybody can see this poo. And what's going to be sad is 4 weeks from now you're going to start spewing this logic as if it was your own like you typically do.

At the end of the Arizona game we marched from our own 17 with 2:20 left and got to within 15 yards for a TD...granted we didn't find the endzone, but that was a red zone issue that we have improved upon.

Yeah that's called a choke. That was my point. Where we had 5 tries in the red zone and came up 1 yard short of a first down. And then we did it again against GB. And against the Bears where the O had 4 consecutive tries while our D held score to under 3 points. And against the Saints. And against Atlanta when we went in tied game.

All of those are called choking. Our O choked. And that's exactly why we lost those games. You guys just hate to have to stare at that in the face and call it for what it is. I'm not. And I hope to God we fix it.

Just poked around some more.....we scored a touchdown on a drive that started on our own 17 against GB with 2:14 left in the game. That's 2 two minute offense drives converted and one that failed, but reached a point on the field where there was a solid chance......in the first two games.

When we were down by 2 scores, right? Again...I have already looked this up....I'm glad some of you are finally doing it.

The score was 30-16 Green Bay. But yay for our TD!

And for the record the drives before that we were 23-13. And only managed a FG.

Drove down the field from our own 20 and scored a field goal against Chicago with 2:26 left from their 21 on 4th and 1....I'm sure you's place a qualifier on that as well....but it's the third example of this team moving the ball in a 2 minute situation resulting in points and I've only checked the first four games.....

That doesn't matter, no way in hell GB lays down to risk letting us back in the game. That's not the way it works. After the way we took it to them for the first half of this game, they would have loved nothing more than crushing us on that drive. It didn't happen.

When it makes NO difference in the outcome of the game. As I stated 3 pages back but I think you may have missed out on that argument cause you came in late.

That's was my point. This team has only done that once...against the Jaguars. I've already looked it up. It's the only game you will find where our O came back and either tied or won a game in the 4th quarter. The rest of the time they were irrelevant.

I don't have any idea how you can watch our games and say "Darn, our defense that game was good enough, that darn Cam Newton cost us the game!"

This whole "well if we're a good offense we should be able to hang 30 on anyone" stuff is irrelevant... Our defense is one of the worst in the league when it comes to giving up points, despite our relatively average turnover differential.

Ya know, other than us "putting the game away" against Jax and Washington, the other thing they share in common is that our defense finally had some stops in the 4th quarter... it has seemed this year like our defense has continually given up big play after big play when we desperately needed them to hold.

What about the times our defense has given up a score when we were leading or tied in the second half, or in the fourth quarter?

Yes it does ...that's why I pointed out the previous drive 23-13(notice the 2 score margin). GB feels very comfortable with a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter. They did it against the Vikings last night too. We did it against the Redskins.

I'm not saying they are laying down. I'm saying their defenses are relaxed when there's 3 minutes left in the game and they are up by 2 scores. It's quite normal. It's a lot easier to score against a team to get within 1 score when you are down 2 and the game's practically over...then it is to get that final score for the win or tie.

Getting within 1 score still means you lose.

 I do think our offense should be ranked higher in PPG. But I am talking about our defense, not our offense. Since you take out "garbage points" I am going to remove the monsoon game. Suddenly we are averaging @25 ppg which puts us in the top 10.

And we have only had multiple turnovers in 2 games. That is far from an outrageous amount of turnovers to overcome from our defense. Other teams have managed to do it every single week without giving up 28+ points. So that is poo.

Also if our defense didn't stink so bad we wouldn't have to "finish games" because they would be already finished by the 4th quarter.

Do you expect our offense to never turn the ball over and score on every drive?? Because that seems to be the bar you have set and it is unreasonable to expect. If our defense were better you wouldn't have to wish for perfect games every week from a rookie QB and we would still be in playoff contention.
