People need to stop asking this team or this defense to be something they are not, or do something they are not built to do. We are NOT built to hold teams to 17 points or less per game. Stop expecting this week in and week out when it's just not what we are. We ARE built to score 30 points per game.

You guys can bitch and moan about our run D all year long. Keep thinking there's no way to win unless D improves and I'll keep expecting a win every time Cam Newton posts a 100+ QB rating and we have no turn-overs. That's all I watch. That's all I care about.

The more the rookie plays like an NFL QB, the more games we win. The more the rookie plays like a rookie, the more we lose. Defense is ultimately irrelevant in our wins or losses for the remainder of the year. They can either improve or stay the same for all I care. But if Cam plays like he did this Sunday. If this offense as a whole plays like it did this Sunday, we win every damn game from here to the end of the year.

So you are saying our defense sucks. You shouldn't have to expect Cam to have 100 QB rating and no turnovers to win. I do agree that when he does do that we should win. But that is unrealistic to expect, especially from a rookie week in and week out. If we had an even average defense he wouldn't have to. Thanks for making my point. I couldn't have said it better myself.

What a bunch of useless nonsense. The point of the thread is are we scared of AP... the answer. HELL YES!!! that being said, he's not as much the downhill runner that has torn us up this year. I'm also scared of Jared allen who is a one man recking crew on defense. Do I still think we'll win? absolutely. But It's not in the bag or anything.

Not legit points they don't. Those teams average a legit 30 points per game. We're around 22-23. Our stats were padded scoring meaningless touchdowns late in the game. We only did it once. This past Sunday and it was night and day.

It is unrealistic to expect an average defense like ours to prevent a top 5 offense like GB or the Saints to put up their average points scored on us too. Or an average offense like the Falcons which average 22 ppg to also put up their average on us(which they did...the rest were thanks to our O).

It is NOT unrealistic to expect average output out of a type 5 offense. Asking our O to put up 30 points a game is just asking them to do what they should be "averaging". It's not their top potential. It's average. 30 points should be average for this offense. Not enough get this.

Not true. I think you have trouble understanding what garbage time is.....just b/c Carolina came up short doesn't mean they had garbage points.

He has played like a NFL QB in others game we didn't win.....ST and D have cost Carolina wins. Can't expect Cam to play like Tom Brady in every game....in some of those losses that is what he would have had to do.

Your answer, maybe. Mine is: HELL NO! I'm not. I'm more scared of 2 pics or 2 turn overs than Adrian Peterson.

If Cam Newton throws 0 pics, we don't turn over the ball, and our O plays the game for a full 60 minutes, let Peterson have a ball out there. It won't make a difference.

We win no matter what. He can have 250 yards on the ground for all I care, as long as we still have more points at the end of the game.

How many games have we had more than one turnover Pantherball??

Answer: 2

Considering we have had 1 turnover or less in 5 of our 7 games I feel pretty good about that.

Garbage time means we were down by more than 2 scores, so it didn't make a difference us scoring a touchdown....we still lost. Defenses had nothing to fear. They did what ours did yesterday....laid back and waited to finish the game, who cares if they were going to score another TD. They were more concerned with taking time off the clock at that point.

People said this last week and how worried they were about our run D. So I'm going to say the same thing I did last week. Who cares? Worry about limiting turn-overs. We limit turn-overs we win. We turn-over the ball we lose. Let them get 200 yards rushing. If we get 500 overall it won't make a damn difference as long as we capitalize and score touchdowns. The only rushing yards allowed with I'm concerned with are those that come off of our turn overs close to our own redzone. They could get 60 all day, but if they all come off of pics in our own 20 yard line that's all they need to kills us.

Did you watch the bears game?

Considering we have had 1 turnover or less in 5 of our 7 games I feel pretty good about that.

How many games have we also legitimately scored 4th quarter points? 2. Jaguars and Washington. We won both. How many turn-overs have we had when we won? 0. Go figure.

Yeah you can make a case for the Saints...but it was actually a third quarter drive that we took our time on and spilled over into the 4th for the first 2 minutes. As soon as the 4th quarter started though, we choked in that game.

In my eyes, Cam Newton has yet to post a 4th quarter come back for the win cause that Jaguars game was a damn mess. I wanna see clutch factor. I wanna see what he does when the game is on the line. I wanna see him do something even The Golden Calf of Bristol did yesterday.

Next time we are down by 7 points or less in the 4th quarter and we have the ball I wanna see him put us up, tie or win the game. When he can do this then we can win with 1 or more turn-overs. Until that time we won't.

I don't understand why you are so focused on making everyone admit turnovers are the differences in our games. It is common knowledge that teams that win the turnover battle are more likely to win.

16 teams have more turnovers than we do, but only 9 defenses have caused less turnovers than ours has. Our defense isn't that good, and blaming all our losses on turnovers is simplistic at best.

your definition fo what are legit points is vastly flawed.

If you are within a score at the end and still have a shot via a onside kick.....the points still count. Denver's points counted against Miami.....and they ended up winning. TDs aren't bogus if you fail and count if you win.

passing offenses turn the ball over....it happens.

when your D is garbage, your ST is garbage......those 1 or 2 offensive turnovers stand out a lot more. Offense still has done there part......they could be better but they have been good enough to win more.
