There's like one team maybe not even one team that's worse than us

you seen the Rams? we are 25th in opponent RB's yards per attempt

I mean don't get me wrong, looking at the games you can obviously see how fuging horrific we are against the run.

After watching Ponder today I say that will be about as stupid as Arizona trying to do it to us. 3 more minutes in that game and GB would have lost. We limit turn overs we win. Worrying about the run is silly in a league when passing is king.

People still don't get it. There are currently 4 QBs on schedule to break Dan Marino's passing record. 2 receivers with the potential to beat Jerry Rice's record. The best teams in the league have some of the worst defenses Pats and GB and Saints are worse than us....and we are the only top 5 offense with a 2-5 record scoring less than an average of 30 points a game.

Some of you still don't get it. All the other top 5 offenses average 30 points per game. This is now average and expected. We average 23. Get it through your heads! 30 points per game is now NORMAL for a top 5 offense. It has been since day 1. We're half way through the season. Wake up and stop spilling old mantra that has NOTHING to do with today's NFL.

Do you see how many RB's have had 250 yard games this year? Dallas's rookie did it again today against the Rams. It means very little nowadays. If you wanna win your D has to be good at stopping the pass, not the run, which WE ARE! And your team has to pass and score 30 points. Which we have only done once this year, today.

The problem with this argument is that it is hard to have the ball long enough to score 30 points or more when the other team is running it down your throat.

Oh, and you did notice the outcome of that Dallas game today, right?

Being able to run the ball well is still a vital part in winning football games, maybe not all the time but what the running game does is open up the play-action passing game which is what it did for the skins and it is why John Beck looked so good if the Vikings get AP going that will only open up the PA pass for Ponder, but if we can out gain the Vikings in Turnovers I believe our defense will be able to hold it together like they did today

There is no problem with that argument because we controlled the time of possession in every single game. There may have been one game where they didn't. And if you count the number of times our O turned it over or came up empty it would have been ever more lob sided in our favor.

Let's see how many games we lose when we don't turn over the ball because of our run-defense, and then people can start talking like it's the most important thing that needs to be fixed before we start winning anything. So far its been nothing but a lame excuse to overlook the real issue. They're not great, they're not even top 10, but they were hardly the reason we lost our 5 games, and they're also hardly the reason that's going to prevent us from winning any more games.

Let the O continue to have 0 turn-overs and Newton put up a +100QB rating, and not only do we win, but when the D's going to get scored on a lot less I'm going to laugh my ass at the "D has improved" comments.

The most major improvement from last week to this week was turnovers and Cam Newton. An average of -2 prior to yesterday to +2 and his best QB rating of the year. That was the primary thing that needed to be fixed. When your QB and offense plays like that, and you lose the game because of your defense, you can bitch about the defense. But when your QB and O are average at best(despite the yards), and bleeding 10-14 points a game, and they have been all year, all blaming the D does is get a bunch of people to point fingers at the wrong people.

That's just reality. And again: 2-0 with no turnovers. 0-5 without. Reality. D only gets scored on 20 points when the offense does that. Jaguars only scored 10 on us last time the offense didn't turn over the ball. Reality. Numbers don't lie. Turnovers lead to unearned points scored on your D. And also pay attention to what happens to D's when offenses break the game open...9-6 first half to 33-20 in the second half. It happens all the time. That's actually normal in the NFL. Defenses slow down towards the end of the game and tire out and offenses should score more points. We have been the complete opposite on offense all year long and the fault has been our O's, not D's.

Sooo. As long as Cam never has a turnover and we dominate the ball and our offense score 30 plus points every game our defense is fine?? Awesome defense of our defense.

"as long a our offense is perfect our defense will only give up 20 points!!" LMAO

Meanwhile in the rest of the league and the real world all but two winning teams on Sunday gave up more than 20 points. So 10 of the twelve winning teams gave up 20 points or less. Many of those teams even had turnovers  Amazing huh??

Answer me this. In the Falcons game our offense did have three turnovers that hurt a lot. But only one of them led to Falcons points. We still gave up 31 points. That means 24 of them did not come off of turnovers.

That is on the defense. Simple and plain :cam:

And how do you continue to ignore that in the advanced statistics (which take into account penalties, creating turnovers, points per possession, etc) we were ranked last in the league on defense coming into last week??
