I want to make a playoff run

Recommended Posts

I was more talking about penalties. We kept the skins alive way longer than we should have. Our offense is firing but our defense is still out of sync.

I agree. However, I only think we committed about HALF the penalties that we got. The refs were completely lopsided in their calls. Which, it happens every week, but still. If the refs give us ONE week where WE get all the calls, we'd have at least one more win than we currently have. Definitely need to sure up the penalties though. Don't give the refs ANY reason to throw the damn flag.

Meaningless stat, if you watched any of those games.

They weren't turning the ball over when they were getting the ball in the redzone and constantly settling for field goals, and the defense was giving up 30.

It wasn't the turnovers themselves, it was the PLAY-CALLING.

Did Cam Newton not throw an interception in the endzone last week wiping off 7 from us? Yeah I believe he did. Did he also not throw a pick in our own 40 in the 4th quarter which led to direct points for Atlanta? I believe he did

Did he not do the same the week before that against the Saints on the first drive? I believe he did.

And so on and so on. I watched the games too. Turnovers have killed us all year long. People just keep wanting to blame D. Defense is slightly if at all improved compared to last week. The only difference is our O finished their drives this time, especially in the 4th quarter. So it didn't put our D on the field anymore than they had to, and it also kept 10 guaranteed points of their stat sheets. Plus we scored in the 4th quarter this time, when it mattered.

Again D's numbers are barely different compared to last week. The only thing that's different is the turnovers. And again we're 2-0 when we have none. 0-5 when we do.

Not even gonna raise my expectations with this defense. In order for us to win, we'd literally have to play in monsoons or score 30+ points every week.

Which is what every other top 5 ranked offense in the NFL does except us and has been doing every week so why exactly is that such a hard thing? That's to be expected from a top 5 offense. This is nothing anyone should be amazed or impressed by. When they put up 44 points like the other top 5 offenses, then you can gawk and say they had a GREAT day. Today they had a good day off of 400 yards. Next time they put up 500+ they shouldn't have any less than 37 points. This is the first week our O played like it should. This is only the second game we finished and scored meaningful points in the 4th quarter, didn't turn over the ball....and we won both of those.

Personally I expect us to score meaningful points every week in the 4th quarter and limit turnovers to 1 or 0.

Amazingly enough when our O plays right, and doesn't turn the ball over, it actually only needs 21 points to win and our D doesn't get scored on by 30. So yeah, it makes perfect sense. If the O commits 2 turnovers which leads to 10-14 points, they're the ones that also need to make it up by scoring 30 or more.

I fault the defense for not getting any turnovers. Part of being a good defense is stripping the football, and making breaks on bad passes, making stops in the red zone.

I saw this stat during the game which was telling. This was our first interception by a cornerback this season. That's seven games in. Meanwhile Woodson had what two or three against Cam in one game. You have a new offense that is still basically going thru its preseason trying to figure out what players are capable of. I think today the Offensive Coordinator finally called the perfect game. That is why they need more help from the defense.

Have to stop Adrian Peterson in order for that to even be remotely possible.

They couldn't even stop Hightower. The field did.

how about we just forget about AP, and act surprised on Sunday. I seriously dont wanna think about facin him..

damn smh

Sweep the Bucs, split with the Falcons and Saints, and beat the Colts, Titans, and Vikings. That gives you 9 wins with 2 other games against the Lions and Texans. The Texans are beatable. Should have wins over Chicago and Arizona.

This. I know I am crazy but I am starting to believe and I"m not the type to get all hyped up and start buying into crazy.

We have not played our best football yet, not a team in the NFL will want to see us soon. We had the Packers and bears and Cardinals asses, thats what drives me crazy.

Fools still talking D when the truth is:

When Newton throws a pick: Panthers = 0-5.

When we have 0 turnovers: Panthers = 2-0.

Keep singing that tune.

Turnovers are always a big factor. Also, having to throw because you know you have to score every time is another big factor. And that is because of the porous defense. When you have one of the worst starting positions on offense in the NFL, turnovers will happen.

How many alt accounts are you going to create PF4L??

Good or even averages defenses can hold teams to field goals every once in a while when turnovers happen. Just because the offense turns the ball over sometimes doesn't mean it should be an automatic TD.

We were also dead last in defense in advanced statistics coming into this game.

Having said that the defense had a pretty good day today. They don't have to be great. But we kept them out of the endzone for the most part and that was enough.

As I said earlier, with this offense FGs are wins. Just keep them out of the endzone more often than not and we will win games.

And once this defense really kicks in, watch the fug out. We will be serious contenders.

OR when the offense turn it over the defense could lift up the offense and hold them to no points or field goals.

Against the Falcons only one turnover led to the Falcons getting any points and we still gave up 31 points to a slightly above average offense. So that poo doesn't hold much water.
