Gantt: Delhomme here to stay

Mr. Scot

like i said, i wouldn't have a problem with him coming in and competing for the job. handing the keys over? only if he was the best person for the job. he could be a stud...he could be a dud. either way the guy has a lot of talent and ability. i'd like him the same way that i would pat white and that is someone to mix things up. he could actually be good as a QB and could be a mcnabb type QB. he has a lot of athletic ability. worst case, use him the same way the ravens do...wildcat formations. best case...superbowl.

most likely he will be staying in baltimore.

people making a big deal about this suggestion either way are getting way too emotional. you seriously need to take a break from things for a while.

geezzz...getting your panties in a wad because someone mentioned something about a long shot. you guys are nuts. walk away from the internet...it's sucking away your life.

it's not that big of a deal.

I would much rather have Troy Smith than a 35-year-old Jake Delhomme.

I was mainly talking about this, this is what I was commenting on. As for bringing someone in to compete, I'm not against that. I would rather us draft someone and groom them though. The only way that is going to happen is if the FO isn't sold on Moore as our next long term QB.

I'm not lobbying for the guy...just trying to point out the laughable points people make.

PHILLIP RIVERS FTW!!!

I wish....but I don't see the Chargers letting him get anywhere near free agency. Have already heard talks that they are about to extend his contract.

Still though, I can't think about Rivers without remembering this...

I thought that was the point of this forum?

It doesn't matter who you come up with, no one is better than Delhomme, you should know this by now.

Give em time, and they will try to show you how he's better than Brady.

When Jake is dead, they will cart his coffin up behind center and try to play like that.(at least according to half the dimwits here)

Also, there are other QB's in the world we know this, just some people have their head too far up Jakes ass to see otherwise.

To the moron talking about a team drafting multiple QB's, maybe because the Ravens are smart.

Smith was a 5th rounder, that's no risk at all, and hardly a given. Flacco is more of a risk, but it's never a bad thing to have this idea called competition for the starting job.

See their philosophy of defense first, with a power run game actually works, and they field good defenses. This allows them(like the Steelers) to draft a leader, even if multiple times till they find the right one.

See we haven't figured out the consistent defense part yet, much less QB.

We look like retards compared to the teams we try to emulate as far as philosophy goes, because we can't get any of it right.

No consistent defense, no quality QB, just now got a run game.

And then we have fans that question good moves like drafting multiple QB's to make damn sure you get one you will hold onto.

The thing is they are smart enough to draft good defenses consistently and do what they do so well they aren't compelled to always replenish their D with high picks. It's more of the coaches and scheme and they can use almost anyone with NFL talent.

Since 2002 the Ravens have drafted 6 QB's.........(they drafted Derek Anderson)

Since 2003 the Steelers have drafted 4 QB's, 2 after Ben.

Also you will notice that they take Offensive players with their high picks as well, and they can utilize D. talent from almost anywhere.

So if it's such a bad idea then I wonder why two of the best defensive franchises in NFL history drafted 10 QB's combined since 2002.

I think they know something we don't, and it goes beyond defense.

The panthers have 3 QB's since 2001, and obviously none in the first.

If you look at the Steelers draft history in particular you will notice that they are always drafting and trying to hit or land QB's.

Sure most of them fail, but as has been shown, once you land that golden one, you are set for a long while and are way more likely to have long term team success. Just have to be Persistent.

seriously....no one is saying that.

most are saying that

1) he isn't as bad as some make him out to be

2) panthers aren't likely to go after one in the first

3) they aren't likely to go to great lengths to find some big QB

4) there isn't really any great choices or alternatives available this year that would be worth the disruption

5) that we are going to do OK with jake until we can get his replacement

what the chumps do is overreact and say that anyone who believes any of the above are hanging on tightly to jakes crotch and think that there is no one better than jake.

not having a hissy fit over the fact that jake is going to be here next year and thinking that we will be fine and win next year does not make one ignorant or blind.

having a cow everytime someone mentions that jake is going to be here and that the panthers are fine with him for the time being doesn't make you a realist.

opinions are fine to have and everyone should have them and voice them. just realize that not even close to everyone is going to have the same opinion and when they do have a different one it doesn't make them a moron and you don't have to attack them. you don't have to freak out because someone disagreed with you.
