Redskins Fans Have A Lot of Faith in Their QB

It doesn't matter who their personnel is or if they pass or run. We pretty much have the worst pass defense and the worst run defense in the NFL. Switching to the 3-4 more excited me. But it scares me more about the run. Hopefully whoever plays NT can do it well. The LB situation would be pretty sweet.

Know how I know you don't know what you're talking about.

It's not that Redskins fans have a lot of faith in John Beck, it's we know he isn't Rex Grossman. We have some what faith in him because Shanahan believes in him.

No one thinks he is going to come out and light the world on fire. All we want, and somewhat expect, is for him to come out, manage the game, make some needed throws, and hold on to the ball - that's it!

As for those giving him a hard time, he wasn't a slouch coming out of college. He was drafted by a 1-16 team and didn't start until later in the year. He played like a rookie his first handful of games before getting injured - but again, a 1-16 team. His last game he started that year, he played well. Bill Parcells came in the next year, drafted Chad Henie and brought in Chad Pennington. He wanted HIS guys. But how much stock can you put into what they thought when Hennie or the organization hasn't done well and passed on Matt Ryan.

Beck went to the Ravens, because Cam Cameron brought him over who drafted him, and they had already drafted Joe Flacco. NO reason for him to play in Baltimore.

SO Beck is really an unproven entity. There is no substantial reason to right him off just yet. No one expects him to play even as well as Cam Newton for instance, but there is a level that he should play that helps the offense move down the field.

Shanny believed in Rex.

Cam is starting for a team that went 2-14. He also didn't have an offseason to prep. 13 TDs, 9 turnovers for Cam thus far Beck had a full offseason and a games on the bench to learn the system back then....Beck had 2 TDs, 8 turnovers.....so I don't know how that 1-15 season means much. Beck isn't an unproven entity......we do know some things about him. We don't know everything. We know most likely he can either lose you the game, not lose you the game.....but most likely he can't win you the game.

But in 5 years in the NFL he hasn't won a game. You don't find to many diamonds in the rough 5 years into there career that have his resume.

Yep, he did believe in Rex. Rex ran the offense well when he wasn't throwing picks. That's Rex's only problem - a big problem however.

Not sure why you are comparing Cam to Beck and what one has to do with other.

He absolutely is an unproven entity. Not sure what you meant "he can either lose you the game, not lose you the game". He doesn't have to win us the game.

No one said he would be a diamond in the rough. He was a second round pick. He hasn't had an opportunity to flourish. Take Kevin Kolb in his second year, he played OK his first game and crappy the other games he was in. He third year was the same. Let me remind you, Beck was picked 4 picks after Kolb. Yet with more time in the system, he got better. He needed time. Why not the same for Beck. If Kolb was ran out of town after his second year with no more games played after his first...would he have had a chance to show what he can do and the Cardinals or other teams wouldn't have traded high picks and given a big contract for him.

Again, Beck was never given a fair shake.

Shanahan believed in Rex Grossman just a couple weeks ago.

OK. And when Rex isn't throwing picks, he did a good job running the offense. Thats what he believed. He was hoping he could help coach him out of those mistakes, but thats Rex Grossman.

Are you saying because he believed in Rex, his belief in Beck should be discounted?

I think if you bleed burgundy and gold, you might have a blood born illness.

In all seriousness, you are a very sensible poster, and you seem to know what you're talking about. We usually get flooded with horrible trolls from opposing teams, so thank you for your well thought out posts. Welcome to the huddle and let's hope for an injury free game.

Thanks for the hospitality. Seems like a cool board in comparison to most. Most fans here seem sensible themselves, mixed with a good dose of homerism.

I'll drink to an injury free game:cheers2:

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
