Goodell wants longer regular season

DANA POINT, Calif. (AP)—More games that count, perhaps as early as August 2011? That’s exactly what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wants.

There are several hurdles before the league can expand its regular season from 16 to 17 or 18 games. Among them is reaching a new collective bargaining agreement with the players’ union.

Still, the commissioner hopes to present a proposal to the owners in May...

I'd love to see us drop at least 1 preseason game. Shave it down to 3, make the season last 17 games... I like it!

Of course, thats also one less game to evaluate non-starter talent, but surely 3 games is enough to get a good feel for what everyone is capable of.

more games means more tv dollars for the nfl.

I would also think the more games, the more money for owners as long as they are filling the seats? Pre-season is important for player development and eveauation. But I think shaving it to two games would be ok. You can get a feel during practice on players.

This could really screw up fantasy football though !
