QB debuts against the Panthers over the years

the actual last backup we faced that was just inserted into the starting rolel was in 2010.

Todd Collins - 32 yards, 0 TDs, 4 INTs.

Unfortunately for us, our QB was Jimmy Clausen. But the fact remains, we made the backup look like a backup.

we used to have a HC that couldn't/wouldn't make any adjustments to the gameplan, regardless of circumstances. he couldn't/wouldn't adapt to any kind of changes on the other team.

i always expected to get abused by teams coming in here with a significant change to their lineup.

i really hope that changes with this guy. seems like it would be the case.

of course, i also don't expect for this defense to be able to really hold anyone off.

Not to nitpick, but I think that lateral toss disaster was when we played them in the second week of 2006. Smith had the bad hammy, and we had Keshawn that year. Remember, shortly after we botched that lateral, was when the Vikings faked a field goal and threw a TD? Peppers was a beast that game, all over Brad Johnson. We had them beat until that stupid call by our former head coach.

I don't think Gamble was doing punt returns in 2008.

I do believe that you are correct, sir. Good observation.

Two counterpoints.

One- that was Fox, this is Rivera. Different philosophy and defense for better or worse.

two- Washington has lost the last 6 times they have faced a rookie quarterback.

So it will our poor history against backups versus their poor history against rookie quarterbacks.

that we won't do well against beck has nothing to do with trends against new QBs. our defense just sucks this year. doesn't matter how long they have played. we can't stop the run and we give up too many big plays in the passing game. we shoot ourselves in the foot and do more damage to ourselves than any other team could.
