Game 71: Bobcats @ Wizards

Its The Milk

Recommended Posts

Bobcats had about 50 chances to win this 1 in the final minutes of the game and blew every opportunity. No way we should've loss to this sorry ass Washington team if we expect to be in the playoffs. This might be the nail in the coffin to the playoff aspirations. I will say that DJ Augustin had a fantastic 4th quarter and came up with some big steals that kept us fighting.

Yeah I feel the same way. The teams immaturity and inexperience really was spotlighted tonight. It's unfortunate because they are a young, talented group of guys, but we have to learn how to be mature in those situations and be able to come out with a win. Augustin had 2 steals in the last minute to give us a chance to win, but we couldn't capitalize on the last one, even when we had numbers, they didn't take the open shot. Wallace was fouled while scoring and had a chance to tie the game and send it to OT but the FT was missed, and Okafor and Diaw both had a chance to put it back up but missed gimme lay ups and we lost.

Getting blown out by a mediocre team at home + blowing a 20 point lead vs the worst team in the Eastern conference = No playoffs.

Washington tried every way known possible to give it away in the last min. And the bobcats kept giving it back.... Looked like alot of immaturity but missed free throws in the 4th killed them. They scored 57 points in the first half then proceeded to score 22 in the next 18 mins of play. To me what their missing is a go to scorer who gets his shot or the foul in crunch time. With the shot clock running down it's either a jump shot or a turnover with this group.

But I do like them, need another piece or 2 and some more experience.

    • With all the money invested in the offensive line, we really need to hit on some Round 1-3 picks.  We could really use a star receiver or pass rusher on a rookie contract for a few years.
    • I understand everyone being happy but let's try not to turn it into another schoolgirl crush festival. No offense. It isn't slower WRs that cause wild overthrows. They have all kinds of practice. It is his mechanics keeping things under control that allows a more efficient conversion of energy, let's call it, into the throw, that we are seeing.  He was doing it with horrible mechanics and needing to put 100% effort to get the ball that far. That totally fugs your accuracy. There is video of Mahomes and Carr on this site that I have linked with them throwing under control vs all out trying to get the most velocity on a radar gun. It shows exactly what I am saying. I didn't make it up. I have been telling y'all for a year at least. It really is all about the margins with Young and he has to be very attentive to his technique to get the most from what he has. He is doing that now and this is the new 'what he can do'. And this is it, there ain't no more. You decide if that's enough for you I guess. But you are noticing better ball flight and zip I am pretty sure, it comes from there. Again go look at the Buffalo drive in preseason and you will see that same thing you see lately. To do that stuff you have to be willing to stand tall come what may, sometimes. Hopefully you have protection to step up safely but the difference making happens when you stand in there and finish just ahead of a hit.  ..... And btw, the straw that broke the camel's back when Tepper fired Reich, was because he couldn't fix it in a week. One of the last issues that I remember was about Young's footwork. You know, I guess it is normal that 10 weeks into the season someone just realized, or finally accepted, that Young had major fundamentals issues. It took them a lot longer to realize it isn't an overnight fix. And my issues with Young were specifically over this stuff. Major rehab job, you don't pay what we paid for that. Hopefully he is 'fixed' and it 'took' and he doesn't go back into his little safe space of the old mechanics like he did week 1. If he hangs with the new, this is what you are working wth now. We just saw his ceiling.
    • i'm not nearly 100%, but i'm trending that way. He's definitely got me around 75%.
