why we are regressing..

The passing game caught our first opponents off guard and now they know what to expect. It's not been shut down but teams are knowing what to expect so it's come back down to earth. They may not be regressing, but they might not be progressing as much as the other teams considered to be good.

The defense is regressing IMO. Constant change going on in the lineup and it's not an easy defense to run to begin with.

Agree with the fact that our biggest issue on defense is that not only is it new for everyone, we rarely line up the same guys every week. You not only have to learn a new defense and where to be on every play but when you look to the guy beside you, you have someone new on most plays. it is hard to develop chemistry when you have to shuffle players around every week.

As Mcdermott and Rivera have said this is a defense with a high degree of accountability. One guy not doing his job or hesistating on a read leaves a gap which opponents exploit.

the Colts are a lock 10 win team every season (for a decade)....1 injury and they might not win a single game.

Carolina lost the 3 starters on D they simply couldn't afford to lose.....that is why our D sucks. O has played well enough to win probably every game arguabley.....

Carolina IS OVERACHIEVING overall right now.....we should not be in all every game we have played this season. Speaks volumes about Cam and this coaching staff.

Man CRA this is such a good analogy how the times have changed lol. We seriously lost our captain aka our best defensive player aka our quarterback on defense

Or maybe we are just playing Good teams? We have one of the hardest schedules in the league and Good teams dont lose very often to bad teams.

that too.

@NO, @ Chi, @ Atl, GB...we came close to winning those games. That is a team overachieving.....that is flat out a tough draw for a young team. Those are all good teams in "win now mode". We only had 2 other games...one we one...and the other was a week 1 game on the road for Cam's first start.

Wins will come. Team will grow. D is just going to suck this year....injury just made it so. A little hope for improved ST play though imo

Imo, if Beason, Davis, Ferris and Edwards were on the field- there's no doubt we'd be better. But it seems to me we have regressed in more than just those positions.

I think early on, our playbook had not fully been installed and it was a lot easier for cam and other players to grasp. Now id imagine most of it is probably been installed and might be more than some can handle right now. Just a thought as to why we looked a lot sharper against Green Bay and Arizona and Chicago

First three games, not a lot of film on our offense and Cam. Now there is. Teams are looking and gameplanning, exploiting weaknesses. Darn those other D-Coordinators.

I don't really see D coordinators impacting things much yet.....O looks strong every week.

O Coordinators are now targeting our defensive weakness very well though....

..or maybe that would be the way you would approach it, but I doubt that any player thinks that way.

The average NFL career is 3.5 years.

So how many years would you be willing to give up on if you had less than 3 years to impress some one to keep you on?

How may plays would you take off if you knew that you could get rolled up on at any time and that would be the end of your year not to mention career?

There is no quit for these guys because they know that at least 1/3 of them will not be back and the majority of those will never sign with another team.

Go tweet up David Clowney who has tried to get back into a roster (including ours) for 3 years now. Ask him how many years he gave up on after week 6.

Our offense stalled in the fourth quarter last week but for 3 quarters it may have looked the best it has looked all season. So I am not worried about our offense. We still need to do better with turnovers and red zone offense but we are fine on that side of the ball.

And I think the defense is not regressing it has stunk since the beginning. But I also think that this system is actually a pretty tough system to get used to and execute. But hopefully the coaches are teaching everyday and the defense will come around.

^ This. Couldn't have said it better myself. You can't fool teams in the NFL for long. We caught teams off guard the first few weeks throwing the ball a ton with a rookie QB. Teams have wised up now. Since then, as we all are too aware of, the defense has continously got hit with the injury bug and there is no continuity. That and the obvious downgrade in talent as a result.

We averaged 20 pts a game the first 3.

We averaged 24.3 the last 3 games.

Offense is moving the ball just as easy now as it did earlier......just b/c Cam's passing yardage is down doesn't mean we have been figured out. The RBs have actually ran for some yardage the past few weeks. Offense is getting better. Still flawed in the redzone but no team has shown to of figured us out.....on O

Yes his yardage is down, but the team is more experienced and has the full play book installed. We should be doing better. In theory, we are a field goal better. Cam's INTs are also up and the deep pass are fewer. I'm not saying the offense has totally been figured out by teams, but the 'surpise' factor is gone.
