i think it's amazing how the general huddle consensus that this was a down year changed into "fug you hurney" because he drafted the best rookie quarterback ever and the best players and FA signing on defense, players he locked up and signed/drafted, got injured.

Agreed, probably prompted by the general swelling of optimism after playing GB, CHI, and NO extremely close yet self-destructing, followed by the 4th quarter ass-whoppin' we got in ATL.

Add the cumulative toll of injuries and then the Otah news and the meltdown starts. It really is amazing how quickly the tide turns.

1)1st rounder (E.Brown)-gone

2)Everette Brown-gone

3)Jimmy Clausen-will not play

4)33rd pick (A.Edwards)-gone

5)Armanti Edwards-on the field for 3 plays a game and has a career high of about a 12 yd return

I mean when your organization depends on the draft to build....5 FUGGED up things like this really stings. Figure it out quick.

if I didn't just work a brutal closing shift I'd go around and pick comparable mistakes made by some of the GM's everyone claims as brilliant. maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I would put Hurney somewhere in the middle of the pack as far as draft success goes. When it comes to cap management he's top 10, barring a few pitfalls. Great at creating room.

Exactly, as of now he is the definition of average. His record suggests worse than average but at his best he is average IMO. I don't think he will ever go anywhere, JR really likes him. But then again surely he knows he has to pick differently from now on to build around cam and not Jake, so we will see.
