Instant replay and draft order changed

NFL teams voted today to expand replay review to quarterback pass/fumbles when the ruling on the field is an incomplete pass.

Teams also voted to change the criteria for determining draft order, ensuring playoff teams will not pick before 21st and that teams that lose in the Wild Card round pick before teams that advance.

good.

i just wonder if draft picks acquired through trades are going to be affected. i don't think they will but it will probably be clarified.

So the rule change to the draft is effective for this upcoming draft? Seems to me that would hurt a lot teams in regard to scouting. Maybe not but I would have thought they would have delayed the rule to take effect next year.
it doesn't affect this year. the guy writing the blog post used the chargers as an example of how it would be.

screw it i want a 20 game season, get rid of pre season.

I like the idea of having a 18 game season with 2 preseason games. Some preseason games are needed for the teams to evaluate players and make decisions on who to cut and who to look at closer and it gives players that don't get much playing time to try to impress.

agreed.

preseason games are also really more of a chance for guys who haven't gotten a secure job yet a chance to find some team willing to take a chance.

I don't get the Draft change. It should go by record. If a team goes 16-0 but loses in the Playoffs, they SHOULD pick later than the team that went 10-6 but went to the Super Bowl. Just because you have a good Playoff run, doesn't mean you should draft later. It should be a result of what happened during the regular season. In essence, a "cinderella" could get shafted. Not that the last few picks are that different, I'm just speaking in general here.

IMHO

2 scrimmage games 2 preseason games

18 game season

add two more teams to the playoffs that way you have a true wildcard game

I was also thinking that with more games you would need to have a larger roster, go up from 53 to 60 players, to account for the added injury possibilities.
