Otah to IR

personally, I think Rivera challenged Otah last week ( I am making an educated guess his recent remarks clue that in).......and Otah continued to be himself. Rivera was tired of it.

Actually, Rivera was tired of it a month ago. This was just the last straw.

They were clear on what they expect from Jeff this spring and at the start of camp. Accountability is extremely important to Ron. Not just from players but the entire organization.

You forgot these two picks:

Eric Wood

Mike Iupati

Oh... yeah... those are guys we didn't get because we traded the pick to move up to get Jeff Otah in 2008 and to move up to get Everett Brown and Mike Goodson in 2009.

Lets see how they are doing:

Eric Wood - Center - Drafted by Buffalo.

So a freak accident sidelined him on week 10 the year he was drafted, but he came back and was a starter for 14 games last year, and has started every game this year.

To everyone's surprise, the Bills are 4-2. And they are #4 in rushing offense in the league.

Mike Iupati - Guard - Drafted by the 49ers

Oh, and hey... what do you know... the 49ers are 5-1, with a QB who everyone was thinking was gonna be a bust.

So, basically we gave up two great offensive linemen, who have contributed to their team's winning records, with a bust undersized DE whom we've already released, an injury laden OT who will probably be released, and a late-round RB who has ball control issues and has a hard time making special teams.

When Hurney misses, he winds up shooting this team in the foot.

Exactly. Trading picks needs to be considered and so does picking players in reference to the needs of the teams. There can still be failure when not focusing so much on hindsight.

How smart is it having 2 First Round picks(running backs), averaging no more than 20 touches a game combined on the team?

I've been waiting for them to ask for more carries. If I remember correctly, D Will went to the coaching staff before asking for more carries during the 2009 season.

If Kalil is available, I think we have to draft him and move Gross to RT and Bell to RG. Otah to RG and/or RT depth or trade him or cut him.

Sucks because Blackmon looks to me like could be a superstar WR and could be huge in our offense. Plus if there is a TOP Defensive talent available we also need.

Honestly we need to trade down and try to get multiple picks because of all the huge needs we have.

who is an above average gm

I'm curious as to what exactly the criteria is for an above average GM? Serious question. I'm curious as to your own personal interpretation because you're basically saying a winning team has nothing to do with Hurney's job.

Winning and losing deserves blame shared across the organization and Hurney is no exception.

/homer glasses off

Hurney is average at best.
