Otah to IR

Reapuh

Recommended Posts

Calling him wimpy and suggesting he doesn't play through pain is ignorant. I doubt it's a matter of pain. There's no way to determine how tough he is just because they put him on IR.

You could say he's been lazy with rehab I suppose. That's about as much as anybody could assume negatively if they insist on doing so.

Otah's just injury prone and on top of that every O-lineman in existence is pushing the limits of what the human body can withstand. We are not designed to withstand what their job requires them to do. Their rehab is a lot more delicate.

How many first round OL that has been starting since his rookie season ever settle to be a backup 3 years after being drafted by said team?

I have been an Otah supporter and have given him the benefit of the doubt. However, when he first returned to the line-up for the final preseason game, he made a statement that made me question his desire to be on the field. It is somewhere in the depths of this unsearchable forum. It was something to the effect of "yeah, it's good to be back with the guys, but don't expect me to be a savior, I am just another o-lineman".

Yes, that is highly paraphrased, but it was something that led me to believe he really didn't care whether he was in the lineup or not.

Don't blame Hurney for drafting Otah. Otah was a very good player when healthy, and while there were health concerns in the draft with Otah, they weren't significant.

Do blame Hurney for not realizing the obvious that Otah couldn't be trusted to stay healthy. I guess Hurney did have a plan with Schwartz as the backup, even though Schwartz was being penciled in at RG. Hurney should have spent a 2nd-3rd round pick in the past few years on a tackle. Think, who wouldn't trade one of EB or AE for a solid swing tackle?
