Beck to start for the Redskins

Happy Panther

Recommended Posts

The Skins missing two OL, their TE, and I think their FB may mean that they don't gel that well. Consistency on the OL is important. Beck hasn't even started a game in like 3 seasons, too. Not to mention that the Bears didn't even beat us with JUST their running game. They needed Hester's two returns and the pick six as well.

We should win this one.

keep in mind Shanny wanted Beck to start this year but Grossman flat out beat him for the job.......Beck is just as inconsistant as Grossman.

we probably just need to let Cam play some DT in additional to his QB duties so we can get a freakin win.

great attempt at getting pie lmfao

I honestly hope the beginning of the game Sunday goes like this:

Panthers receive to start the game.

Score a TD.

Force a turnover on kick off.

Score a TD.

Force another turnover on kick off.

Score a TD.

Pray Redskins OC feels like they have to pass the rest of the game to keep up.

Pray our OC figures out a balance attack would be best to protect the lead.

You play madden on rookie settings dont you?

... But 200 yards? C'mon man, it's a flaw in our defense. I think we'll shut the run game down to ~90 yards though with the focus on the run game this week.

you really are going to sit there and argue that cutting a RB's yards in half, when he only scored 7 points on his own, would really make up the difference of 21 points we gave the bears on INTs and kick returns?

come on man! i agree that our run defense is not the greatest, however i believe people are blaming our defense a little bit too much. turnovers and special teams have been a bit more of a factor and ESPECIALLY in the bears game. Id allow forte 200 yards all day long if we coulda held them to 13 points, but instead we gave them 2 kick returuns and a INT for a TD and guess what? they got 34 points and beat us by 5.

if they hadnt gotten those 3 TDs? the final score coulda been 13-29 panthers. and that doesnt exactly look bad on the defense in any way does it? 200 yards or not, they got stops when they needed to and limited the bears offense to 13 points and 1 TD. so MAYBE the defense could of done better, but they did not in any way lose us the bears game by allowing forte to get 200 yards. if anything it was a bit impressive that he got that many yards and they still got stops and FG forces.

just my $0.02 on that game

Hester only scored one TD, on a punt return. On the kick return, he got to our 36, and 3 plays later, it was a TD.

Let me correct some misconceptions:

Yex, Rex beat out Beck in camp. Mostly because only good Rex showed up. And when Rex is good, he is actually pretty darn good. Beck was average. He also missed some time due to injury.

The biggest things Beck has going for him is his mobility and pocket presence. He also should do a better job than Rex as far as turning the ball over. He has a good release and nice touch on the ball.

The Redskins need to establish the run early. Beck will be asked to make short throws and move the chains. The Redskins abandoned the run early in the Eagles game, and had to come from behind so they threw more. Also, the Eagles used far less wide 9 and were doing better stopping the run. They still have a formidable run game.

Beck is more talented then Grossman, better arm, more mobility less likely to piss himself and start tossing INTs like candy on halloween.

Even during preseason Beck was more efficient then Rex.

I think Beck starting is an upgrade from Rex but it will be his first start since 2007 so there's likely gonna be a good deal of rust.
