Beck to start for the Redskins

Happy Panther

I think they are a top 5 rushing team.

sure...but who have they played? they racked up all their big rushing games against St. Louis, AZ and a decimated Giants D in Week 1. And their first five games came with 6 healthy starters on the line and end, instead of the three starters/three backups they will come into this game with.

Not saying our run defense deserves any credit at all...they are putrid. But I think we can gang up on the run and stop it this week. If we can't, we'll never stop it (though that's certainly a possibility as well).

They only ran for 42 yards against a terrible Eagles run defense last week, lost their starting left guard for the year and probably are going to be without starting left tackle Trent Williams this week.

i'm not one to cheer for injuries but YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.

Our defense is made up of 3rd teamers and a couple of starter caliber players. I have zero faith right now. Not to mention special teams. They have us beat on two out of the three phases of the game. The 4th phase, crowd noise, will probably be split 50/50.

I don't know what he's like as a QB but he's quite a good musician.

well not many do because he hasnt started since 2007, he's not really big and he can move a bit, but i dont think his arm is strong.

Do remember though that Rex Grossman put them in bad situations with the interceptions. it seems like the Redskins quit running the ball because they were down quick. i think the Redskins need to run Helu more, he's perfect for Shanahan's system and use Hightower and Torian as the backups.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't think they come into the game as a Top 5 rushing team with their injury issues. I mean, hell, their starting left guard is former Panther late round pick Will Montgomery who normally plays center for them. Chris Cooley is injured too (although you could argue that Fred Davis is better anyway).

also it helps the crowd out they get discouraged easily, at least in the sections i usually sit in. I'm grateful for all the old PSL owners but they need to hire young drunk people to cheer for them.

Not sure if you have been to games this year, but Cam has changed the atmosphere. It was easy to get discouraged when the other team kicked a FG last year and the game felt like it was over.

Montgomery is actually underrated as the center and if they move him to guard he's not bad there, As for Cooley, he's good, but like you wrote, Fred Davis can replace him. i think Davis should be re-signed to a huge deal after this year.

First of all Beck has a career passing rating of 64. He has 1 TD, 3 Ints and 6 fumbles. He has thrown a total of 122 attempts in his career.

He is not going to kill us if we get pressure. As for their running game, so what if they get 140 yards rushing which is what we are giving up as our season average?? If we keep them to under 200 yards passing that still nets them under 350 yards total offense. Can we win with that?? We can if we don't give them easy points and short fields.

This won't be a high scoring affair. If we keep them to 17 or fewer points we should win. But we have to be fundamentally better on special teams and not giving up big plays.
