No I can't think of anybody better than Delhomme who has thrown 5 interceptions and lost a fumble in his own house when the chips were down and the postseason was well underway.

Matt Ryan had a 3 turnover performance in the Playoff's, Delhomme had his six turnover game, Chad Pennington had a 5 turnover game in the playoff's this past season.

The answer to Mr. Scot's question about who had a 6 turnover performance during the season is Kurt Warner against the NYJ in week 4 in a 56 - 35 loss. He had 3 Int's and 4 fumbles/ 3 lost. Big Ben had a 4 turnover performance as did Aaron Rodgers.

If this is a surprise to folks, you just haven't been paying attention. Jake is the winningest quarterback in our franchise history and has one of the best winning percentages in the league over the past 5 or 6 years. Anyone who would dump a quarterback after going 12-4 last year is crazy. It reminds me of San Diego who dumped Shottenheimer after going 14-2. Since then they haven't approached that record.

Anyone who thinks that whoever we pick up will be better is out of touch of the reality of who is out there available or the type of quarterback we need in our system. And for those who think the draft is the solution, other than Roethlisberger, who has come in to start as a rookie in the last few years who has led their team to a 12-4 record. (And even then he only started 12 games and didn't win them all).

Instead of complaining or hoping for manna from heaven (Cutler, Brady, Manning, etc), exactly who would be an upgrade that is available? And no none of the draft quarterbacks would be an upgrade.

Very well said. I am among those that would like to see an upgrade at QB but I realize that as it stands Delhomme is the best option for the team. And as far as your comment on the draft QBs, I don't think Sanchez/Stafford/(other guy I can't think of his name) are even upgrades over McCown/Moore.

The Panthers FO has been scared of drafting a young QB with talent and potential ever since they bombed with Kerry Collins. They did it once and failed so they're very terrified of attempting it again. They prefer to roll the dice with journeymen and undrafted QBs. Their insistence to stick with Jake is nothing more than them not having the ability to scout and develop potential QBs. When you look at the franchises who have the hardware in their trophy cases, all of them won with guys they picked (often early) and developed into studs.

That might have held water except for the play of Matt Moore in 2007 who was develped in a matter of weeks not years to play in the NFL. By a young quarterback coach who was so clueless that Denver ended up making him their offensive coordinator.

What we haven't done more correctly is hold onto guys long enough to develop them outside of Weinke who just didn't work out. Some of that is that you usually only keep 2 quarterbacks on your roster and the third is on the practice squad and is the emergency backup who can be plucked off the practice squad by anyone else. The number 2 quarterback is one snap away from starting so is usually a veteran. The draft pick guy if he is a high draft pick has to be on the active roster to avoid being plucked away which takes away from another position. He will be paid millions to sit the pines for years or he will start right away.

Problem is that the only teams that usually start rookies are in a rebuilding mode and content to be average or below while the guy learns to play. Anyone going to be happy with 7-9 this year? You can say we will be there anyway but that is much less likely with a veteran versus a rookie.

Plus that is not the goal or acceptable just what happened in some of the past years.

First year norv turner is in they reach the AFC championship game. Ask any bolt fan and most of them were glad to see him fired. Many were sick of martyball and his inherent conservativeness. If you ask me I think they're better off with turner.

I knew that would be the argument when I used it but Marty was fired due to strained relationships with Smith and not his record. After 4 of his assistants left for promotions, and Marty wanted his brother to replace Wade Phillips the relationship worsened. From what I read since they were going to have to hire a whole new staff anyway, they decided to clean house and start fresh.
