/r/nfl trying to say Dalton deserves RoTY over Newton

i'm not pulling for dalton to win roty. i could care less about the award. to claim that cam is a lock 6 games into the season is ridiculous.

just fyi...i wanted dareus in the first, and dalton in a later round.

the team would have had anchors for both sides of the ball for years to come.

as it is now, the defense is 2-3 seasons away from being relevant.

So do you feel like had we drafted Dalton, we'd be faring better than we are now? Is he doing something that Cam isnt? Please explain, since Cam isnt a lock. Tell me exactly what Dalton is doing that makes him an "anchor". Keep in mind, you're talking to someone who's watched both teams play several times this season.

We didn't have a 2nd round pick. mute point.

Cam isn't a lock because who the hell knows what could happen in the last ten games... it's so early anything could happen.

Dalton is sure as hell not a lock either...

Cam is most certainly an anchor too... the difference is the Bengals picked up two players that look like they'll anchor their team for years to come, but because of Hurney, we only got one. Well, at least we have AE...

wow. this thread went south real quick.

i'm black. i wanted dalton in the draft.

i guess i'm racist...or not...or am i?

yes, dalton is in a better position to win than cam....but he could have just as easily been a liabilty to the team, and cost them games. but that's not the case.

cam is putting up terrific numbers, but the margin of error is less for him to make roty because if he has bad games to nullify what he's accomplished...the team still has a losing record.

IMO, I think the ROTY should go to the rookie who has made the difference for his team. Even if all he was able to do was take his team to a 3-13 win. When u really stop to look at it, Cam is carrying a team where everyone has placed unlrealistic expectation on him. While Dalton is playing for a team whose QB just didn't want to be there anymore. It's not like the Bengals were struggling. Dalton simply filled a void. Where as Cam is being told to turn a team around that has gone through two QBs who supposedly couldn't get the job done.

And he's doing it a defense that enjoys squandering every point that he and offense fight for. And Yes, he's expected to never make a mistake because unlike the sive that is the defense, Cam is held to a higher standards by fans who seem to enjoy putting such unfair pressure on the QBs.

Again, I can't take ANYTHING from Dalton. Hes a really good rookie QB and had we had a second round pick, who knows, but we didn't. But our main issue is we can't stop anyone. I mean ANYONE. We barely escaped pass Jacksonville because we couldn't stop MJD. Cam is doing what we are asking him to do, but he can't play defense.

I would take Smith over AJ Green everytime.

Dalton has benefited from a good defense and playing terrible teams. I'd be willing to bet the Bengals go 0-4 against Pitt&balt

Smith is 10 years older though. barring injury, it looks like AJ is going to be an amazing receiver with an above average qb throwing to him

and yeah i agree that Pitt and Baltimore will murder Dalton

the bengals weren't struggling?

how is 4-12 not struggling?

they also lost two of their starting WRs and arguably their best cornerback... I mean yeah their defense was still okay, but so was ours...

many people thought the Bengals would be in a race for Luck this year. They were considered to be the most disfunctional team ever, ready to explode at any moment. Instead they're contending... and Dalton has played a part in that.

None of that should take away from how Cam has kept us in games, but Dalton deserves credit for helping right that sinking ship.

Impossible to say. IF the Panthers had acquired Dalton this must mean they spent the no.1 else where right? Also i was all in favor of drafting Dalton (if available in the 3rd) and signing Hasselback to start. Another thing, there would be a change in playcalling. I don't see Andy running the Cam playbook, maybe Carolina runs the ball more and keeps their defense off the field but who really knows. You can't just say " lets switch quarterbacks and see what happens". But look, give Dalton Smith, Olsen, Williams, Shockey, Stewart and lets see whats happens. Thats is a lot more talent on offense then he has in Cinc right?

wow. it's like trying to explain to a five year old why the sky is blue. i'm not sure how many different ways i need to explain the same thing...but here goes.

i don't put much stock into rookie QBs. why? because if a team relys on a rookie to lead them, you end up with the 2010-2011 carolina panthers. if you rely on the rest of the team to carry the rookie QB, you get the 2011 bengals.

with the way the bengals as a team is playing, all dalton has to do is not make a lot of mistakes and he's got a very good chance to make roty.

cam has to play lights out on a losing squad to even get noticed. if he falters enough to nullify what he's already accomplished, he's not a lock.

the panthers would be the same losing squad if dalton (or ANY rookie QB) was under center because this team is not ready for a rookie QB. they should have fixed the defense and used it's overpaid backfield more than they have.

i'm pretty sure i called it before anyone else. the defense was going to be the reason the team wasn't going to win games this season. sadly, i was right.

that's the last time i respond to the same thing with you. i don't do nascar. you only get one lap from me.
