A few thoughts I feel compelled to share.

This meltdown is utterly ridiculous.

Losing sucks...however, how about acting like a fan and applying a little logic.

A fan understands that a young team...and a young coaching staff, even one with talent and possibly great potential, may need time to develop.

(There are a few significant injuries on this team, by the way).

Let's trust in The Plan, even if we do not like the short term.

Because we are fans, we need to support this team. Give them a fair chance. That extends into the future. Any success now is just a bonus.

Remember how just a couple of months ago most people thought this team, with new coaches, and a new system, had no chance because of the lockout? What happened to that perspective?

If the posts on this forum are representative of the fanbase, then we seem immature and pretty unsophisticated.

Let's grow up guys. Let's support our team through some growing pains and believe they will lead to something good. If they don't, then there will be a time to be critical. But I believe the negativity, panic, and trashing of our coaching staff now is very premature. It is also a little embarrassing.

When you make the decision to hire a new staff and bring in a new potential franchise QB, as JR did, you make a commitment. Your commitment is to stand by them for a reasonable period of time and give their plan (in the case of the coaches) or give their development (in the case of the QB) a chance to succeed.

True, but it is also true JR made a conscious decision to buttf**k this roster leading into 2010 season for his own agenda. Panther fans need to be given the leeway to express their outrage at what was put on the field last year, and how this roster is still suffering despite the upgrade in the coaching staff this year.

The Perfect Storm of disinterested Lame Duck Coach, no Prime draft pick due to GM stupidity and complete indifference in the Free Agent market during 2010 have lead to where we are.

Cam is a huge acquisition/upgrade, but JR severely set this franchise back with his decisions the last couple of years. It's going to take time to make right what happened to this roster, meanwhile we suffer the consequences.

I think we as fans should continue to bend over and take it in the ass rather than discuss the fact that the front office may have made some horrible moves, there is evidently NO help coming in 2011 on the defensive side of the ball and Hurney is a complete moron.

I agree and would take it a step further. IMO, once Edwards went down we should have done something to improve the DT position. Instead, we wait until after week 1 to save a few bucks and when all that remains are leftovers.

However, that is not Rivera's or McDermott's fault. Blame MH or JR, but not the coaches or players (and I know you aren't; this is directed at others).

Most of my questions right now revolve around the front office, player evaluation, and cap management. We need to give the coaches time to put their plan in place.

I've always laugh when i hear this response....as if you are entitled to something cause you pay to see it.

Most people pay...whether they are there are not. You aren't entitled to anything but to watch the show. If you believe winning isn't important to this team/coaches/owner....then get out.

i don't know how many times i wanted to make a topic like this

Football is a passionate, emotional game and those two things can make people do and say crazy things. Logic does not follow it. Remember George Carlin's old comedy routine on the difference between football and baseball?

i'm exhibit A. I'll be lucky if I don't wind up in jail Sunday as I despise all things Redskins, most of all their fanbase and their Napoleon complex, short legged, big ego owner. I get that honestly for growing up in VA and working in DC for 15 years.

I think what happens is the Panthers deflate their fans over and over and over again.

They came into this season with hope and optimism and freshness for the first time in a long time and most of us so desperately not wanting to be the laughing stock of the league again, took that life raft and turned it into a Coast Guard Cutter when the reality is it's more like a pleasure boat in need of parts and a tune up vs. the luxury liner, beautiful to look at and reliable.

...and the fact is, at the stadium, we cheer, we slam seats, we wear jerseys and at home we watch the TV; but, as my Great Grandmother used to say, 'a mule in a horses' harness is still a mule'. The Panthers are a team of mules now with a few horses. They need better pieces than they have. That leaves two choices, accept that there are no magical pieces at this time of the season and trust that draft and free agency completes the team next year or let yourself thing those mules can be horses. Either can be frustrating but that is the reality.

...then of course, there is the success of San Fran with a new coach, had a great running game before he got their and a great defense and then the Begals with Dalton, all of which works people into a froth by comparing the Panthers to them.

I gave myself a talking to after engaging with someone whose handle was 'Happy Panther' this week. I won't do that anymore because the bottom line is football is suppose to be fun. I watch it to enjoy them and yes, it is upsetting when they lose, very upsetting; but, it's their job and they get paid millions. They could care less if I let my life be miserable because of that.

In my view, if watching this team becomes so painful that I'm upset for days afterwards, and my family and friends want nothing to do with me, well, I need to find something else to do. Life is very short.

Please remember if we lose next year too that our coach only has ONE year NFL coaching and our average defensive age is only 26 and we are in a rebuilding stage...cause in order to win you need a dream team with a 50 year vet coach who has 3 rings.....blahblahblahblahblah stupid fuging excuses.

Don't care. Want to see more winning and less failing. I want to see more players acting like they want to win. I want to see more of these rookies and younger players step up.

It stupid to abandon ship I already understand this is my team. For this very reason I am unsatisfied with the season and progress (except obviously Cam). I would never say fire Rivera or anything those comments really are stupid but enough with hte rebuiling youth movement coaching bullpoo...if you continue spewing that poo into next year thats 3-4 years of saying so...MANY teams do better even with new coaching.

Stop saying we were 2-14 what do you expect. You ALL were saying our record indicated nothing about how good we were and last year was for other reasons (suprise suprise more excuses).

Difference between you and me is I belied it. I believed we were better than 2-14 and that was for different reasons, I really believed that. Until now. The 2010 season put a hurting on this team that will be felt for more than just a year for a lot of reasons.

I'll be looking for another "didn't know it would be this bad" letters.

I really get the sense that some of you need to go be fans of another team. If all you care about is winning then why not go be a fan of one of the top teams this year?

And keep posting in that impossible to read blue. It may not be the most visually appealing thing but its part of the Huddle at this point.

I care about the Panther's wining, not any other team. That's why.

Stop telling people to go be other fans of other teams if they don't like everything going on with their team you sound like a dumb homer.
