Week 6 ESPN QBR Ratings Are Out

I dunno, even though all 3 of his picks this game weren't nearly as bone-headed as the 3 in the GB game, I thought he still threw better in that game over all. He ran very well in this game, very good decisions with his runs and I'm not saying this was a terrible game but I guess I could agree it'd be a tossup between this one and NO as 2nd least good...

What game were you guys watching? This was one of his better games. The picks aside, he was very good. And I don't even blame him for the picks. I'd rank his games:

1. Arizona

2. Chicago

3. Atlanta

4. Green Bay

5. New Orleans

6. Jacksonville

It's not the picks that bother me. That's expected and that is something that can be explained by the fact that you are a rookie. Mis-reading coverage is something that can be explained by being a rookie. Getting caught up and confused is something that can be explained by being a rookie.

What you can't explain are the 100 or so passes that he's thrown so far this year that are either way too high, even when he has plenty of time, even though our receivers make a great effort to catch them, way too off target to the point where no human being can hope to get to the ball, or like I see every single game: a horrible 4 yard pass that goes over the head of your receiver by 7 feet when there's absolutely no one around your receiver or even any defenders in between Cam or receivers. The easiest passes one could hope for, he's like 50%. The ones where receivers don't expect to really have to do any amazing acrobatic moves or gymnastics, because they are so damn easy to complete. Those things can't easily be explained away by the fact he's a rookie.

The reason he's better in his long range game is because receivers expect to have to go after the ball. They expect passes not to be perfectly spot on. But no receivers expect to have to jump 6 feet in the air or dive for a football when you're sitting 4 yards away.

Williams was literally 4 yards away. And it's not like it happened one time a game, or a couple of times this season. It happens every single game and has happened all season. I have yet to see an NFL QB miss these type of passes on a regular basis like Cam has, rookie or not. Not even Clausen did that last year. The range in his accuracy is absolutely mind boggling. Now everyone has days like this, or passes like this from time to time. And anyone can givea QB some slack to have brain farts from time to time. But when it's a repeated offense, game after game, it's a problem that needs to be addressed and it hasn't been addressed one bit since the first game.

I've watched every minute of every game and other than the jacksonville game where he was off, I haven't noticed him completely missing receivers. Not saying he has perfect ball placement but it sounds like you are saying he consistently misses receivers. What's his comp percentage? Close to 60 right?

U are such a liar...nuff said. U clearly have something against this kid cause u were stating the same nonsense about his accuracy last night.

I'm sure the real experts will differ to ur already made-up mind about Cam.

Cam and the offensive team seem to be carrying the whole team almost every week. When u have a team where the defense seem to invite all opposing QBs to sit back and throw to their choosen receivers without much pressure, u then put way to much pressure on an offense that feel they have to go out and score tds in every drive they get. That isn't realistic but that is where the Panthers are. If that keeps up, the team will start losing by bigger margins because u're expecting a rookie to go out every week and be perfect..

Also, Cam is in great company. Go check the record of the Pro QBs and see who had 2 or more interceptions in all of yesterdays games...

There's clearly a group, don't really know if they are fans or not, who seem to enjoy undermining this QB in every way possible. It's the most disguisting thing I've ever seen.

The offense made mistakes yesterday and so did the coaches, but it's clear they are over compensating for a defense they now realize is non-existant.

I don't know what to tell you man, go back and watch them again, cause so have I and I see it clearly. Maybe you don't pay attention when you see a completion/incompletion. I pay attention to how passes are completed as well as when they are not, and nothing happens. And what you are talking about is completion percentage which is related but also different from what I'm talking about. But even as far as completion percentage it's NOT good. You can look up the numbers yourself on NFL.com if you want.

He's gotten worse week in and week out in comparison and nobody notices this. They just keep pointing to yards, which have also slowed down. He's at 58.5% right now and it would be a lot worse if it wasn't for some of the moves our receivers have made. And while that may sound great, it's not when you consider the range in the NFL typically goes from 50 to about 70(not 0-100) so it's really a 20 point scale. It's actually a pretty crappy completion percentage when you consider he was 22nd in the league last week and after yesterday he's 24th. Even Andy Dalton is at 62% and that might have something to do with taking pressure off of your rookie QB. I mentioned this last week but nobody wants to notice this

That's also why I said yesterday he's not a good match for a Coryell Air offense. You can't have a 58-60% QB trying to run this type of passing offense. You need to be above 65%. There is no upside to having an inaccurate QB throw the ball 40 times a game. Yes he's going to have a lot of yards, because they all pretty much complete over 50% of their passes, so any QB that throws that much is going to get yards, but who cares about yards? I'd rather have a QB that throws 20 times a game, but he completes 15-17 of them when it counts.

And my issue isn't just the sub-par completion percentage because they are two different things. It's the way in which he misses those passes as much as the way he makes those completions.

Cam had his highest rated QBR of the season: 80.6

http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/28952/highs-and-lows-for-week-6-total-qbr

I think the QBR is bogus.

It's clear they aren't seeing the game the way u are.

Clearly stated why he is ranked so high. Unlike some of u, there are those who see the whole talent of Cam and not just every ball a receiver doesn't catch that he throws.

You are talking QB rating, and I'm talking accuracy. Cam's QB rating should be even HIGHER than that when you consider they don't count rushing TD's towards that number. He should be in the 90's, but that's still different from accuracy.

The closest stat to tracking accuracy is completion percentage, but once again, not even that stat tracks QB accuracy, because there are a lot of other factors involved(receivers dropping balls for example, receivers catching bad passes being another). His actual accuracy, which is the only thing he personally has control over has NOT improved one bit.

And as far as QB rating, his Arizona rating was 110% and he had his worse rating yesterday, so I'm not sure what you're trying to prove there.
