Do people expect a defense to be good

I want our offense to stop committing boneheaded penalties and our coaching staff to stop putting the game on a rookie quarterbacks back and trust the running backs(especially Stewart, he needs to be THE GUY now, not DWill).

As I said, they have so much potential and a lot of their problems are easily correctable(the penalties). It's extremely disappointing to see them beat themselves week in week out.

What Penalties except a few phantom calls and faults starts. The offense has had less and less penalties as we have gone on. The defense is another story and as well as the offense plays the defense plays worse. They have not had a back to back 3 and out all season. They have also given up 160 total points this year and that only in 5 games....

You basically keep saying if the offense quits turning the ball over and quit committing penalties then maybe the defense wouldn't look so bad. Which isn't true, as you have already been proved wrong about two of those turnovers. But whatever.

No, I haven't. I'm saying if our offense quits turning the ball over and quits committing penalties maybe we score enough points to offset a bad defense.

I look at the offense and see a stud QB in the making, two stud running backs, a good offensive line, and a pretty damn great set of receivers(TE's included). I know it's dumb to expect an inexperience offense to score on every opportunity, but it's got the potential to do great things.

Find a way to sure up the run and the wins will come. Im not sure why we just dont sign Pat Williams. We need to try everyone we can and Hurney needs to be slapped in the face with his incompetents. Inexperience does not wins games, experience does.

the argument against a Pat Williams type signing, is that it won't allow our rookie DT's to get used to the roller skates they strapped on at the start of the season. IF and when this happens , they will be able to contribute to this team for many a year. The same cannot be said for Patrick.

OP is right to a point. Cam's terrible int on the screen pass broke our back. However, that's because we almost HAVE to score on every offensive series to stay in the game. We won't stop anyone. They stop themselves, usually.

We've also just completely thrown the offense on a rookie's shoulders to this point. We're not trying to help him with a balanced attack, fug no, bomb that poo to Nanee.

Meh, minus N. Suh in Detriot, DT's develop over years based on their workout habits, experience can come from the bench when they are in 5 to 10 plays a game for 2 to 3 seasons.

Don't forget trying an end zone shot from the 20 on 3rd and two on a TE wheel route when the TE in question is draped in coverage.

Way to go, Chud. Brilliant call when you have a guy like Stewart on the bench!

The first turnover cost us at the very least 3 points, likely 7. Momentum is a wonderful thing and a defense playing with a lead makes everything easier.

Just saying.

We got the ball back after halftime. We were in the lead by the time the Falcons had the chance at a drive and they still scored.

That interception (which was in no way Cam's fault anyway) didn't affect the defense at all.

today the offense really didn't do it's job, but the defense has only shown up for a full game once this year, and that was in the rain against Jacksonville.

Yes, Cam's turnovers did hurt our chances of winning, but Atlanta didn't need those turnovers to put up points on our defense.
