I don't get the complaints about the womens story I've been hearing, personally the biggest "wow" moment outside the question of leaving Shane in the bus was the "your boyfriend" comment, that was fantastic.

I said exactly that when she made that comment!!

I was waiting for Lori to start beatin' her ass...but alas...no chick fight, damnit

Which comment are you referring to?

My problem with the women is that most of their dialogue is boring blather about their feelings and crap... it's just as annoying on TV as it is in real life.

Plus stupid poo like Lori going out by herself trying to find Rick... just being a complete idiot...

I think the writers are muddying the water because of all the super nerds dropping info everwhere. Not saying they are here. Well yeah i guess i am. Lol

I think that loan zombie in the field is Shane.

most of us just remark about the differences in the story after that point has passed

is it really a spoiler to say that sophia is still alive for the duration of the comics after she dies on the show?

nobody has actually commented on much except vague references to the prison and the governor

Fantastic episode last night. Loved the lone walker in the field that Shane kept staring at. As CWG said they did mention that it had been at least a week from the previous episode, as Rick tells Shane when he stiops the car in the middle of nowhere that he's been waiting a week for this to talk to him.

I think I'm in the minority, but I really like Shane. Rick's moral compass constantly puts the group in harm's way. Shane is very direct about how things have changed and I love the power behind some of his quotes. When they closed out the mid-season finale and Rick and Herschel were steering the walkers into the barn, Shane said "It's not the same as it was before!" Truer words were never spoken. Things have changed. My morals wouldn't last too long in this situation. Then Shane is talking to Rick in last night's episode and says "One shot to the leg, Carl lives" Shane's all about surviving and doing what needs to be done. Maybe he'll kill you if he deems you to be expendable like Otis and Randall, but I just really hate how Rick annointed himself the leader and everyone should follow him and his conflicted feelings without question.

I'm sorry, but if it's me and my best buddy in that scenario and I think the kid needs to die because he knows where the farm is, and my buddy wants to think about it for a day, I'm gonna shoot the kid and argue about it later. Who gave Rick a 51% ownership stake in this group that he makes the decisions? If I'm Shane I'm feeling like I've kept this group alive looong before you even woke up Rick, so kiss my ass you self-righteous prick.

So basically you like the guy that reacts based on instinct and the immediate selfish need instead of the guy that has moral fiber and sees the big picture?

Shane wants to survive to see another day. Rick wants to restore order in a world of chaos one step at a time.

And that self-righteous prick just proved in the episode that he is smarter than Shane, and that's why he can protect everyone. The blood on the fence, hiding under the dead body, and Blind-folding the kid in the trunk with headphones on.... All Rick. Shane may want to survive, but will have to try more times than Rick will, in order to be able. He's reckless, and he'll get himself or others killed because of it. He proved that when he tried to kill Rick with a wrench and ended up almost getting himself killed while Rick could have left him there. He may have a 51% stock in the situation, but he's proved and earned all of it.

It's all about fear in their world. Shane is living scared. Rick is fearless.

I respectfully disagree. I think watching the show on TV it is easy to like Rick and feel like he tries to take the high ground and be a moral leader in a chaotic world. That's all fine and good. But, I'm simply saying I love the character that Shane portrays and think that he does what needs to be done in a world with no rules. Maybe I can relate to him because I'm a hothead myself, but people say Rick wants to restore order in a world that is not salvageable, in a world that does not, nor ever will again, have order. If I was in this same situation I would do what needed to be done without batting an eyelash. Forget about saving Carl for a minute. Even if Shane shot Otis in the foot simply to save himself, I'd do the same thing. Maybe Randall knows where the barn is, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he's a good kid, maybe he's not. Shoot him and forget about it. I know a lot of people will give me a lot of flack for it and that's fine, I'm just being real.

If I was in the same scenario as this show, I would band with those I cared about, and everyone else is just a stepping stone or an incumberence towards our surviving, and will be dealt with accordingly. Maybe I'm a horrible person for that, but it's no fairytale world out there and I'm fine with that.

The women play a part too. They have to show friction and relationships in all areas. It was only a matter of time before the person who thinks she knows Shane (Andrea) and the one who really does (Lori) were going to have it out.

This episode was about doubles. Lori and Andrea were mirroring Shane and Rick, Shane mirrored the loan zombie in the field, the two dead cops mirrored Rick and Shane, Maggie's sister mirrored Andrea's suicide situation. Shane and Rick had a situation similar to Otis and Shane with a different outcome. None of this was done by accident.

If you remember, Otis was calling the shots at the school before Shane turned on him. Same thing with Rick and Shane. He needs someone to carry him until the end, then he kills them and swears up until that point it was the other person slowing him down. When it comes to pressure, Shane cracks, Rick doesn't.

Then the question comes to surface, if you are going to only band together with those you care about, you would have to choose your survival over one of theirs eventually to be like Shane. Its easy to shoot Otis, you don't know him but you wouldn't be traveling with him anyway. If your wife was slowing you down and the zombies were gaining, you'd have to shoot her. It's your survival over hers right?

I'm just saying, Shane doesn't have lines to cross. This is why he is so quick to turn on Rick and why ultimately he will end up being that lone zombie wandering in the field. There won't be anyone left. You really could go as far as to say there is no difference between the walkers and Shane. Shane is a zombie that has killed the living for selfish reasoning and is now alienated from his own humanity. Shane never came back from the school, what humanity he had left, died with Otis.
