Our run d suckage not the DT's fault

Anybody who believes differently is not paying attention. Week in and week out the big runs are going to the outside and many still want to blame the DT's and it's quite sickening to see you guys really believe it's on them.

Our linebackers, safeties and ends are getting gobbled up by fb's,t.e' s and other times just flat out whiff or unable to bring the rb down with solid tackling.

Wow. Ballsy post. Not the team I'm watching, but ballsy nonetheless.

So tell me, when a RB runs to the outside, do the magically appear on the outside or do they have to run to the side? A good DL penetrates & disrupts that, so the LBs & DBs are not the only ones responsible.

Everything is predicated off of DL play. The DBs have to cover longer if no penetration, the LBs get taken up by O-linmen, TEs & FBs if the DL does not stuff the run.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, b/c I couldn't believe what I was reading, but when your 2 DTs are being pushed back or knocked down routinely, I think it might have 'something' to do with it.

When the Panthers had Jack Del Rio as DC our Dline was the best in the NFL Kris Jenkins #77 6-4 360 , He at times need three guys to block him. That's not what Fua and Terrel are doing , first he needs to stop jumping offsides. Then they both need stop getting run over by everyone straight up the middle. Next man up , yes we're like 10 on IR keys players on D , but C'mon man play some Defense be a unit bend but don't break. It's starts up front , for this reason I am putting some blame on the DT play.

Linebackers still have to stay in their lanes and fill a hole...these outside sweeps have been killing us...teams aren't getting that much up the middle...there has to be some kind of contain on these outside runs

Thats because the DTs are not holding there ground and routing the G to the side not forward. To stop a sweep play your DTs have to recognize the sweep and keep there G engaged as long as possible so the LBs can clog the line and force the RB to move lateral not forward. Its inexperience at the DT pos that makes this such a common thing.
