Preemptive Rational Assessment Thread

1.) Cam did not play as poorly as the stats will suggest. Both INTs were of the fluky variety (although he should have probably laid off the blown up screen.)

They responded with pressure and it finally derailed the offense, that's football.

2.) Rivera can't make magic out of the players on hand. The defense is bad, which has been obvious for a long time. Last team's defense wasn't really better, they just didn't have to respond to scores since the offense never scored. There's no magic fix except to develop the players we have and draft for improvement. Give it time.

3.) As much as it sucks to lose, is is excruciatingly important in a long-term sense to see how Cam responds to this loss. He finally got punched in the mouth for the first time, and can clearly see where he put the team in bad places. As much as I have loved his competitive fire, one thing that needs to come with time is the ability to lead through losing, and although that may take time, he gets to demonstrate his willingness to be that kind of leader starting today.

4.) Losing sucks, but keep in mind the long-term, and keep your head up every week. This team will win games, and the last thing any intelligent person does is assume all the problems that developed in one game can be fixed by trading away everyone, firing coaches, or generally being a stupid bandwagon fan.

Congrats to the Falcons, looking forward to beating you next time.

Rational responses only.

How could could you have played to make stats like this look good.. 0Tds 3 Ints 44.6 QB rating. But he rushed for a TD? Ok, sure, but this was a welcome to the NFL day, because in the end winning is what matters and in the end Cam has yet to pull through late in the game. 4th quarter we're tied, we have the ball....it's all in his hands today. No excuses this time imo.

You're pretty dumb.

Panthers discovered yet another way to lose a game. This time: get beat on both sides of the ball for the entire 4th quarter. At least that's more of a traditional loss for us. We have plenty of experience with just getting our butts handed to us. So...Falcons were the better team. They executed better, had a better game plan, and better in game coaching adjustments.

What keeps happening:

A. Coach Rivera continues to get outcoached during the actual games.

B. Our offense will turn the ball over (Cam) and our defense rarely forces a turnover. We don't win the turnover battle.

C. The defense is overmatched at DT, LB, CB, and S versus almost all competition. Looks like we are on 3rd and 4th stringers in some places.

D. Fans keep waiting for a game where it all comes together. In that game it all fell apart. THis is what happens when you combine a rookie QB with a rookie HC and a rash of injuries on an already suspect defense.

E. We will draft top 5 for the second season in a row.
