Optimism Is Gone

our offense is good enough to win games - perhaps not good enough to get us into the playoffs yet, but it's further along than I thought it'd be. At the same time, I feel like teams are starting to slow us down in the 2nd half. I know we like to blame Chud but I think some of it is also defensive adjustments. Taking away Smitty has worked reasonably well for teams.

our defense and special teams are both so bad they lose us games. that's a problem. and it's not something getting any better, which is really frustrating.

holy hell calm down. we have a franchise quarterback that will only get better as we build components around him, and he himself improves. how on earth are you so shortsighted that your this bump in the road outshadows what's on the horizon?

I don't know about you Philly, but I hate losing and we've had our share of it the last 3 seasons.

I was telling my wife what makes it so hard is that you get pumped up every Sunday to watch your team play and then when you lose, it's like you have to hit the reset button and wait another week and it just ends up being groundhog day.

Now, taking into account what you've said... I am forced to walk away each season with some reason to look forward to the future and then I come back to the same sh*t and same results the next year.

"We've got great young players at _____ position, now we just need _____."

I already knew Cam was gonna be a franchise QB. But, as it always happens, we get super-good in our weakest area and then what seemed to be our strongest area turns to sh*t... Or we just continue to ignore the same positions like DT and WR.

Yet, we still suck. It's the same principle from week to week, but now year to year... I wait for each season hoping for a winning team only to be left soured yet again by another losing season and wasting another year of my life waiting to see what we do the next year.

Like I said, in my mind, I am bound to the Panthers. I am a fan for life. My children will be Panthers fans. But, this is like waiting each year for Christmas and then you open your gifts and everyone got you socks and underwear.

I said "essentially" blown out. You're right, it wasn't just the score, it was the feeling of the game. I didn't feel we were in it after that first pick.

Could've gotten a FG at the least on that drive if we played it just a little closer to the vest and then got the ball back to start the second half. It was all downhill from there.

That was a blowout. Having the ball ran down our throats, them running the same fuging playaction rollout run/pass option on us 500 f*cking times a game... I'm sick of it.

They completely killed our team and any spirit we had in this game. They imposed their will on us and no other team had done that to this point... This was a backbreaker in my opinion, it was them or us, and they came out with a convincing win. Our team is soft.

How could you say we were never in it after that INT when we took the lead in the second half?

We converted well over half of third downs.

That first interception was a good playcall, good throw, and good route by smith. It should have been a touchdown but it was a fantastic heads up play by the defender covering Shockey to stick his hand out behind him at the perfect time.

This game was far from a blowout. And by the way, I still expect to win against Atlanta next time we play them, so I guess that optimism is still there.

We made it into the playoffs with a lot less offensively across the board, and won.

It's time to hold coaching accountable. These weak ass tosses and ineffective/unnecessary misdirection runs aren't fooling anyone. We should be steamrolling teams when we feel like it, but there isn't any balance, the run designs/schemes suck, and Chud turns to sh*t when we have a chance to tie/take the lead/score.

So, you're saying you expected us to win when we took the lead?

That's the difference.

I've watched this team do the same thing every week with one exception.

I am disappointed as well. Our defense absolutely stinks, and with the strength of schedule we have, it looks like we are only going to win one more game this year. (Against the Colts)

This is how I feel, if we are going to lose and have a top 5-10 pick in the draft, I hope we have the very first pick. So we can trade it to a desperate team for many picks. This is the only way we can be successful this year as far as I can see it.
