brandon lloyd wasn't the answer. not even close.

the FO is fine. it takes just the right amount of risks. some would say the last few years it has taken too many.

we'll see more talent brought in during the offseason. gettis will be back. beason will be back. our rookie DTs and QB will have a year under their belts. we're heading in the right direction.

Plus, FA's, the players that can make their own decisions about where they play, could actually consider Carolina as a good landing spot. That hasn't been the case in at least two years, and arguably the last four.

Has everyone forgotten how most "experts" considered the Panther's FO insane for drafting Cam #1? While the FO might not have considered it an extreme risk, everyone else sure did. Most people considered Cam a "project player" (they were obviously blinded by their own prejudices and their desire to see Cam fail) and I am proud of the front office for making that bold call. They are doing a fine job....there's a difference between taking educated risks and being insanely reckless (a la the Raiders, or Redskins).

those "insanely reckless" FO's both have better teams than ours

however i wouldn't call our group of guys that- they are just stupid

there's a reason we are in the basement of the NFL guys

^yes, now they do but I was talking about past debacles. For the Redskins: Albert Haynesworth, getting an old Deion Sanders, the way they treated McNabb (there are more, but the list is too long). For the Raiders: Drafting Jamarcus Russell (a guy with well documented character issues that weren't just the figment of "expert's" imagination). It has taken the Raiders a long time to recover from that one. And the Skins are only now on the upswing because Al Davis has decided to take a backseat to Mike Shanahan.

You do realize even some people who wanted to draft Cam considered him a "project player" right?

Warren Moon was telling everyone who would listen that Cam wasn't as much of a project as people were saying. Most of the "project player" talk stemmed from the fact that people were implying he was stupid and wouldn't be able to pick up complex NFL offenses. That and the fact that he was coming from a spread offense. The spread offense argument makes little to no sense because most NFL teams run variations of the spread offense. Sam Bradford came from a spread offense as well....all his plays were relayed to him from the sideline. He didn't read a single defense in college and yet people didn't question him like they did Cam. This was despite the fact that Bradford was also coming off of major surgery on his throwing shoulder. What the hell does "project player" even mean? How many of those guys have attained a high level of NFL success?

A week or two ago I would have agreed, but it is still better to let our draft picks take the lumps. WR2 isn't our biggest need(OLB), but it would really help us out in these shootout situations that we seem to be finding ourselves in lately.

Or we could just keep putting the game in Naanee's hands in the 4th qtr...

Plus, as much as we all hate it, Smith isnt going to be here forever, and he isnt getting younger.

I would still rather draft a WR than trade for one though.

In retrospect, WR probably isn't our greatest need, just because there are only so many balls to go around. We have to distribute now between Smith, Olsen, Shockey, LaFell, DWill and Stewart, so a really good #2 is probably going to be disappointed in touches.

What is hard to figure out is, given the above, why in the hell are we throwing to Naanee so much? Just get somebody out there that won't screw up too much, and can block downfield. Naanee is hurting us when there is no need for it to happen.
