The front office takes some risks. Taking Newton over Peterson and Dareus was risky. We just don't throw around stupid money and draft picks for mediocre veterans all the time, which I'm okay with.
I wanted someone in the projected top 5 crop over Newton at number one, but that was wrong. The front office pulled the trigger on that and to this point it looks like a franchise changer. Props for that are deserved and it's a blow to those that can't stand Hurney.

He has made some questionable moves, but he still manages to make the crucial moves that count. Kinda like the message the Charles Johnson contract and the D'Lo contract sent out. Overpaid? Probably. Yet multiple franchises were left to deal with the aftermath. On top of that, the message has been sent to young draft picks here. If you produce under rookie contracts, you will get rewarded.

I guess a better example to use would be Baltimore's FO. Those guys know exactly what they need and they go out and get it. Need a #1 receiver? Get Anquan Bolden. Need a #2 receiver? Get Lee Evans. Need a 3rd down back? Get Ricky Williams. And they draft to their strengths. That's what I meant.

If you find somewhere in my post where I said a #2 receiver was our biggest need I'll pay you 100 beeellioonn dollars. ( Dr_Evil.jpg). BUT, what I will say is getting B.Lloyd now would take a lot of weight off of the FO in the offseason to focus on the many holes we have on the O-Line and the defensive side of the ball.

We had a risky FO? I mean granted, there are many bad factors that come with a risky FO. Oakland is a good example of a risky front office that has just made themselves look like fuging morons, but what if we were New York Jets-esque (although stay as good as we are in the draft)?

For example, let's say we had a front office that saw a need for a WR2 and said "poo, Brandon Lloyd's on the market, let's go after a playmaker!" Or even if we did something as simple as making easy upgrades to our d-line by signing a worthy veteran starter.

I'm not trying to be a downer on Falcons week..but this Lloyd situation has me thinking, should we pull the trigger on it and just go after him?

The Panthers' FO is risky - they just tend to take risks on their own players rather than others.

And regarding Brandon Lloyd, the guy is on his 4th team, including stops in such receiver-rich cities as Washington and Chicago, and has had 1, arguably 2 good years in the previous 8. Trading for Lloyd wouldn't be risky, it would be dumb.

^ Perhaps, but you can't argue that if you look at his stats from Year 1 in Denver when he got put on IR, he was en route to having a very good year. He's had tough injuries, and his time in Washington was apparently in "Joe Gibbs doghouse" which is like being in Mike Shanahan's doghouse...it doesn't take a whole lot to get there and it's hard to get out.

I'm not a Brandon Lloyd expert, and I guess I'm just really...really dying for a winning football team. I know it's all about patience but my god I'm just starting to get ansy. Maybe you guys are right, this might not be the best trade for the team right now.

brandon lloyd wasn't the answer. not even close.

the FO is fine. it takes just the right amount of risks. some would say the last few years it has taken too many.

we'll see more talent brought in during the offseason. gettis will be back. beason will be back. our rookie DTs and QB will have a year under their belts. we're heading in the right direction.
